In awe of @FamilyRightsGp 's legal team led by @CarolineSSLynch who worked with #kinship carers to draft an inclusive kinship definition & led the #TimetoDefine campaign.

3⃣ A clear, common definition of kinship care is fundamental to improving recognition and support for all kinship families. It's why last year we launched our #TimeToDefine kinship care campaign for a legal definition of kinship care, and we're pleased the Minister agrees.
Pleased to have joined this today and discuss the pressing need for a clear definition of kinship care to be enshrined in primary legislation & the importance of early stage legal advice for kinship carers. Read about our #timetodefine proposal at https://t.co/duA2tNRrPf
Kinship carers – family or friends providing a loving home to children who can’t live with their parents – make such a difference to children’s lives.
It was fantastic to meet kinship carers Joy, Katie and Shanayd today to hear what more support they think is needed.

Kinship care has gotten a lot of attention from Government in the @educationgovuk strategy announced last month.
While this is welcome, there is further to go to support kinship carers - including a definition of kinship care in primary legislation.
