Under the theme “#BuildingRYAFWeWant,” the Rwanda Youth in Agribusiness Forum (RYAF) successfully concluded its General Assembly Meeting at M Hotel. This impactful gathering brought together RYAF’s members and district committee to endorse the organization’s new five-year Strategic Plan alongside the 2024-2025 Annual Action Plan, setting a clear direction for RYAF’s future.
The assembly saw strong representation from key institutions supporting youth in the agriculture and livestock sectors, including the Ministry of Youth and Culture (MOYA), the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), the Business Development Fund (BDF), Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), and SPIU/Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board (SPIU/RAB). Discussions emphasized the many opportunities for youth in agribusiness, encouraging young attendees to contribute ideas, ask questions, and explore ways to advance agricultural initiatives in Rwanda.
AGRA’s Rwanda Country Director, Mr. Jean Paul Ndagijimana, commended RYAF’s young members for their dedication to transforming Rwanda’s food systems through agribusiness. He emphasized AGRA’s commitment to fostering youth-driven change, sharing that AGRA’s current five-year strategy includes support for young entrepreneurs across sectors like primary production, agricultural services, and value addition. Notably, AGRA’s initiative aims to generate 132,000 jobs in Rwanda’s agricultural sector over the next five years.
In her closing remarks, RYAF Chairperson @SakinaUsengima1 expressed heartfelt gratitude to partners, including @AGRA_Africa and @USAIDKungahara , for their vital roles in organizing the General Assembly. She also acknowledged the support from other partner organizations that contributed to the event’s success, reinforcing RYAF’s mission to empower young Rwandans in agriculture.
