Belgatchia, the 3rd oldest depot of the only surviving #tram system of India, was opened in 1903 & was 1 of 2 depots situated in North #Kolkata.
Now the shed is being closed down sealing the fate of 31 working Tramcars, lying inside the shed.

Kalighat is the oldest Tram depot of the cTc, which dates back to 1881. It is still operational &is also considered the smallest tram depot in Kolkata.
The Kalighat depot provided route-

31 : Kalighat - Esplanade

The wooden body #trams were manufactured from 1901 to 1951 & were divided into classes from A to L. A to J were 4 wheeled Streamline Cars. K & L were 12 wheeled cars with Iron Body Burnstandard & Jessop tram cars were made in the 80s.
