A new chapter for Pakistan’s care agenda.
The two-day #TransformCare Knowledge Exchange & Action-Oriented Forum concluded today with an important milestone: the launch of Pakistan’s first Multi-Sectoral Care Working Group (MCWG) by the Government of Pakistan, through the Ministry of Human Rights, in partnership with UN Women Pakistan.
In his closing remarks, Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to advancing a coordinated national care agenda and highlighted the role of the Gender Mainstreaming Committee in integrating care considerations across policies, planning and sectoral priorities.
The forum brought together government and development partners to deepen understanding of care systems, explore policy and financing priorities, and strengthen coordination for action.
Organized in collaboration with the UN Women Knowledge and Partnerships Centre in the Republic of Korea, with support from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea, the forum marks an important step towards building a more inclusive, gender-responsive and sustainable care economy in Pakistan.

At Session 1 of the policy forum of the #TransformCare workshop, we shared lessons from Penang and Jambi on putting care into practice through gender-responsive budgeting, community participation and public services, with support for those giving and receiving care. #4BetterLocal

During the UCLG-led session of the #TransformCare regional workshop convened by @UNWomenAsia in Seoul, participants explored how physical, social and institutional infrastructure come together to create local care systems.
