A BIG thank you to @RaymondJames! They are committed to helping us care for NYCs #UrbanForest and this week, in the heat, they helped us #steward 20 #trees that needed some care. We focused on cultivating the soil, watering, and we even planted flowers in some of the #treebeds!

A BIG thank you to our friends at Dataiku who #stewarded 15 #streettrees in Greenpoint! They #watered the #trees in need after an unseasonably warm and dry September, and planted #daffodil and #tulipbulbs in the #treebeds to give our #urbanforest a little added color next spring!

#TreeStewardship is central to our #TreesforNYCHA project. We spent the summer watering and cultivating the soil, and last week, we returned with the help of volunteers to plant over 1k #allium and #crocusbulbs in 22 #treebeds!

A big THANK YOU to our friends @MUFGAmericas who came out to volunteer for #treestewardship on Manhattan’s LES! They brought a great group who removed litter and weeds, cultivated the soil, and planted over 250 #daffodil and #tulipbulbs across 30 #treebeds. #MUFGGivesBack

We are glad that New Yorkers love their #trees, but please don't plant new trees in #treebeds without a #TreeWorkPermit from the Parks Department. There are reasons, not always obvious, why a tree bed might not be a good place for a #tree anymore.

Our staff spotted this @NYCParks #TreesandSidewalksProgram #sidewalkrepair under way in #Brooklyn. These #trees were in 5’x5’ #treebeds, so it is good that they will have more space for the roots to grow. Learn more about the Trees and Sidewalks Program @ https://t.co/7lTYxzyzxF.

There is still time to #plantbulbs in #treebeds this #fall and some #retailers are beginning to #discount remaining supplies! Remember to dig around any large #roots in the #treebed and #plant at least 18 inches away from the trunk if the #tree was planted in the last few years.
