6/2/1968 the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries travelled to London to meet government ministers. There aim was to improve safety at sea after the #TripleTrawlerDisaster. Three ships were lost with 58 men. Their campaign led to major reform in working practices and saved countless lives.

The Ross Cleveland sailed from #Hull on 20 January 1968 under the command of skipper Phil Gay. 58 years ago tonight she was fishing off Isafjordur, Iceland during the worst storm in living memory and was tragically lost. 18 men died and one survived. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

William Good lived in Hull and was the cook on the Kingston Peridot. He fell on board and was injured. He was put ashore at Reykjavik to have X-Rays and then be sent home by air. That accident saved his life. The Kingston Peridot was lost very soon after. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

The Kingston Peridot was off north-east Iceland on 26 January 1968. The weather was bad and another trawler was told that she had ice building up on the ship, and was moving east, no more contact was made. The Kingston Peridot was lost with all hands. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

The #Hull trawler St. Romanus sailed from St Andrews Dock on 10 January 1968 and the last contact was a radio telephone call that night by the skipper Jim Wheeldon to his wife. A search began on 13 January but she was never found and lost with all 20 men. #TripleTrawlerDisaster
