Went to Costco and got what I could for now. Found a local group running supplies that will deliver this. Costco was packed and a lot of the people I ran into were from the region. One elderly lady asked me if all that stuff was going to the mountains and then started crying because she had friends out there and handed me a $50 to help buy stuff. Another lady I spoke with was from Boone and said herself and her husband were gathering supplies and backpacking what they could to neighbors in the area that were completely cut off. I had gotten the last of the food buckets and shared them with her since it’s easily packable food. The Second Lady said the National Guard had started running flights for rescue ops and closed the airspace to the private pilots that had been running supplies and that they needed more people with horses or ATVs to help distribute to isolated individuals and families. Many local roads and driveways are washed out.
