Starli się oni z oddziałem polskiego podziemia niepodległościowego z Narodowych Sił Zbrojnych (NSZ/NZW).
Polski oddział pod dowództwem por. Zbigniewa Zalewskiego (ps. ,,Drzymała") natrafił na przeważające siły sowieckie, które otoczyły wieś.
W nierównej walce zginęło od 23 do 27 polskich żołnierzy, a kilku dostało się do niewoli sowieckiej.
