@CHP_APP A8: asking the hard questions…I think creating safe spaces amd normalizing the discussion is a good place to start. Data like this that demonstrates more accurately how many GDY there are, to say “you’re not alone”, advocating for policy and payor changes #tweetNlearn

@CHP_APP A5: There is data to demonstrating the added social stress of minority folks with challenges such as healthcare, employment, education are at increased risk of violence (I actually think this was a topic of a prior #tweetNlearn). This is compounding those risk factors

@CHP_APP A4: sample was smaller, but seemed decent at ~150-250 if I remember correctly. I don’t recall if they data was powered for statistical significance. I don’t know why this would be the case, but I suspect it would remain in larger cohort very scientific response 😂 #tweetNlearn

@CHP_APP Q2) those seeking medical care tend to be white and masculine identifying. GDY of color may not seek care for many reasons, but systemic racism certainly plays a role, as do cultural norms and access to care in general #tweetnlearn

@CHP_APP I find it curious a study with such an area of focus would be designed in such a non-inclusive manner. I think it speaks to unconscious bias/systemic discrimination. I love that our @pittadolmed team and their colleagues followed up with more inclusive research! #tweetNlearn

@CHP_APP A1: the methodology is key here. The 2017 data collection was dependent on a young person identifying as “transgender”, when not all GDY identify as such. The data collection in this article was more inclusive, resulting in a more representative response #tweetNlearn
