An always pleasing #TwitterSnap from @BooksTeaFilms. One of much interesting #Spolia to adorn the walls of the church of St. Mary the Virgin in #Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Forged from lead and stone TTM๐ญ

The Tribunal #Glastonbury. Mouse associate the very specific 3-centred shape of the lights in the windows with the English Renaissance, specifically the Elizabethan period. That does suggest a C16 facade TTM๐ญ

I'm led to believe the mainly front wall is made of medieval stone work. Potentially one of the windows on the 1st floor dating to Elizabethen era. Sadly closed when I walked past.
Can anyone help identify features???

Mouse often say that the best #TwitterSnap is of a place that is a bit obscure or off the beaten track. This courtesy of @lwahlgrensmith is a beauty even down to the colour of the sky. Mouse visited to find an example of unusual stone masonry. Shut every time sadly

Not sure why, but this year has been a stressful one so far, and yesterday was the first church crawling of 2026 (I know). Short but a good one. Got to Eling where we've been trying to get in for years- open to prepare for a baptism, welcomed by absolutely lovely church ladies

A Mouse nearly #TwitterSnap thanks to @barry_wizard. A regular visitor to Mouse's timeline as it's such an unusual find. But this time with a twist. The cruck was lost to memory until the building shown foreground in the adjacent photo was demolished TTM๐ญ
(Wonderful #Wirksworth)

Interesting wall, masonry constructed around a cruck truss - how far off the ground does it need to be to be considered a raised cruck?
The nearby sign states that it "probably" dates from the late medieval period; St. John's Street, Wirksworth

And an opportunity for a quick almost but not quite the same #TwitterSnap for Monday. One of the stars of Mouse's #SalisburyToTheSea scamper #StMaryBreamore (follow the # to see the evidence of its Saxon origins - or not)

What a sight. Late Saxon St Maryโs, Breamore, today, in all its glory.

A different angle on a #TwitterSnap courtesy of the wonderful @johnevigar. The nave of #StAndrewCheddar from Mouse's #ScamperDownTheAxe

Mouse love a #TwitterSnap at the best of times (and the worst of times) but they are at their most pleasurable when they are a bit obscure or off the beaten track. Mouse give you #StMaryEllingham #Hampshire courtesy of @BibiRippon. A quirky and fascinating church

16th c barrel roof; divided into panels by moulded ribs; gilt rosettes at junctions are of a more modern date ~ St Mary & All Saints, Ellingham #Hampshire #CeilingsOnSunday

Mouse end he day with a quick game of (almost) #TwitterSnap courtesy of @Barb_Drummond. Mouse's last visit on the #ScamperUpTheSomersetAvon; #StGeorgeEastonInGordano #NorthSomerset

How about that? In a new spin; a #TwitterSnap through time with a spot of then (from @ianebbage1) and now (from Mouse). It occurs to Mouse that 'Uncertain' is a most curious name for a C13 timber framed building. Perhaps it meant something different then TTM๐ญ

"King John's Hunting Lodge" in the Market Place in Axbridge in Somerset was a wool-merchant's half-timbered house built in 1460. The origin of the name in uncertain #windowsonwednesday #woodensday

How exciting! A first night and day #TwitterSnap courtesy of @GretelleMaitre. The very wonderful church of #StMichaelCoombeBissett on the outskirts of Salisbury #Wiltshire. Captured on the #ScamperDownTheEbble2024. Looks lovely illuminated like this

St Michael and All Angels, Coombe Bissett, this evening. Next to the full-looking River Ebble.

@CathyRLowe @ianyoung33 @Portaspeciosa Mouse's #TwitterSnap. The creasing shows the roof lines of various incarnations of the cloister. Mouse has always suspected that this also shows that the label and fleurons are post-Reformation additions. The fleurons are C15/C16 in style but probably Victorian๐ญ

#TombTuesday
In the 18th and 19th century, some graves had to be protected from โbody snatchers,โ and the wire fence around the grave was a way, the mortsafe, to slow down the profaners.
St Leonard, Sutton Veny, #Wiltshire

@CathyRLowe @ianyoung33 @ThrosThrosThros @LoveOfGates Romsey was Mouse's old stomping ground at one time. Brace yourself for the odd #TwitterSnap or two. Let's see if we picked up on the same things!๐ญ
A nice #TwitterSnap to launch Mouse's tweeting day courtesy of @Barb_Drummond. The church of #StPeterPortishead #Somerset whence the #ScamperDownTheSomersetCoast began all of those months ago TTM๐ญ

Nearly, but not quite: Mouse can always rely on the wonderful @Portaspeciosa for a really good #TwitterSnap. After all our grounds for stomping overlap. Should Mouse say that #StMaryBreamore isn't as Saxon as it makes out? #ItWouldBeRoodNotTo

Took a first time visitor to see this wonder today. I made her approach it backwards and then turned her around and she let out the most satisfying squeal. Who can blame her, itโs one of the ecclesiastical joys of Hampshire.

Sunday really does seem to be #TwitterSnap day for Mouse. Mouse yet to share her adventure at #ThornburyCastle #Somerset (Mouse had afternoon tea amongst other things) but it is AM-A-ZING. The original owner was 'dispatched' by Mouse's least favourite royal for getting too uppity

Today was *almost* a #castle day! Thornbury Castle in #Gloucestershire is a hotel these days, but sadly they couldn't serve us tea! Never mind, we saw two churches and the outside, which is pretty impressive - but we really could've done with that tea! #VeryBritishProblems

@GretelleMaitre One of the most familiar images on Twitter and would most definitely look fantastic with your photographic talents๐ญ
(It's a #TwitterSnap)

Something marvellous from the archives, prompted by a new #Twitter friend. Anyone who wants to play #TwitterSnap, or just guess where it's from, is welcome.

@edward_gillin @Rouen @CathedraleRouen Brilliant photo - and I can't better it, but I can play #TwitterSnap.
#Rouen is such a marvellous historic place. (Although the modern Flaubert Bridge is amazing too.)
