#COMPLETION OF BASIC EDUCATION IS A CATALYST FOR ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION || The recently released Uganda Labor Force Survey - #ULFS 2021 report by @StatisticsUg shows that the Education Sector accounts for 21.4% (see attachments below) of the workforce in formal employment… and that 59 percent of those in formal employment have completed at least a post-primary specialized training. On the other hand, the majority in the informal Sector are employed in Agriculture, Forestry, and fisheries at 39% while Trade accounts for 23%. However, the report also reveals the fact that 48% of those employed in the informal Sector have only attained Primary level education. This reiterates the significance of completion of Basic Education (that is, S.4) as a necessary catalyst in growing the formal Sector; and subsequent widening of the tax base. There’s positive correlation between completion of post-primary education and growth of the formal sector as indicated by employment stats. It all starts with having more children complete Primary Education, then have as many transition to Secondary Education level and complete at least Senior Four. It’s only after completion of basic Education (S.4) that a person acquires basic knowledge and basic skills that provide a solid foundation for meaningful pursuits in any specialized career paths. @URAuganda, @UgandaMediaCent, @Educ_SportsUg
