The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs has approved a proposal to include studentsβ lived names and pronouns in the class list in class contact lists.Β

Next, the UP Visayas USC filed a motion to add a clause emphasizing the call of UP Babaylan to adopt a more gender-inclusive and affirming UP. The council also called to abolish institutions enabling violence and impunity.
There are objections. The motion is denied. #GASC54
There is a reason why this event has always been and should always be community-led: the demands for systemic change and structural reforms towards SOGIESC equality within and beyond the university must always come from the constituents themselves.

It is neither an initiative of student councils nor gender offices but that of community organizations themselves to better represent the LGBTQI population within UP and their demands towards making the university a university for equality.

UP Pride has always been community-led. It has been organized by UP Babaylan since 2008. In 2021, the event first became systemwide to include all constituent universities of the UP system. Since then, it has been led by LGBTQI orgs from these CUs.
