Do you know why #Turkey said it would leave @NATO but still remains in it? It’s because of the so-called "unfriendly" move to remove #Russian and Syrian forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad.
This action was deemed "#unfriendly" because the U.S. removed its troops, as they didn’t need to be there alongside #Russia. However, Turkey’s strategy was calculated. They aimed to provoke or pretend to be attacked by Russia, framing themselves as a #NATO member under threat. This would force NATO’s intervention under Article 5, thereby exploiting the alliance to its advantage.
Turkey bet on a scenario where Russia and the U.S. would weaken each other in a conflict. This would destabilize the Black Sea region, strengthen Turkey’s "Blue Homeland" doctrine, and advance its plans with Qatar to expand influence, all while weakening #Europe and #Israel.
But #Putin outmaneuvered this by withdrawing his troops and protecting Bashar al-Assad, a smart move. Instead of a Russian-American conflict, Turkey used the situation to target the #Kurds, framing it as a "defense mechanism against terror."
As a result, the Kurds ended up fighting against Turkey.
