I know it's not NYE yet, but I gotta admit some personal goals I'd like to achieve by EOY 2022. 1. I really want to start making progress on my #VDC2/#VDCII core. It's been too long since I made any real progress with it.

That moment when someone on another social media outlet is curious about the #VDC2 #VDCII core you designed, and it's been like almost a year since you last worked on it because real-life gets in the way, then you kind of forget about it, start other projects, and ... yeah.

Took literally all day to figure out how to properly draw the glyph palette "window" (really, a fixed panel). Still faster than learning today's GUI toolkits. Drawn in raw Z80 assembly. #vdc2 #vdcII #rc2014 #RetroComputing

It looks like GEOS, but it is not GEOS. :) This font editor demo aims to also be useful for defining text-mode character sets for the VDC-II core. This code is running on a C128 emulator. Video of it at https://t.co/GKwzJ69Z2G #vdcII #vdc2 #rc2014 #retrocomputing #FPGA

So, the current "fontedit.asm" program blits the mouse pointer across all 640 pixels of the screen, and each blit consists of 16 lines of 16 pixels. I've timed it taking 90 seconds to complete this task on a (emulated) Commodore 128. #vdc2 #vdcII #rc2014 #retrocomputing #c128

Help requested... For my #vdcII project, I've been trying to think of a way to print text on arbitrary pixel boundaries. The simplest way for doing this involves using a procedure to copy rectangles out of a font bitmap and into the destination. 1/ #vdc2 #RetroComputing #rc2014

Last night, I made some updates to the #vdcII #vdc2 demo program du jour, what will eventually become a VDC Font Editor. I completed horizontal line, vertical line, and filled rectangle drawing operations. #retrocomputing

I finally figured out how to reliably solder the surface-mount headers to the @TinyFPGA BX module, and it only uses the parts that will have been shipped with the BX-Plorer project. No need for special purpose jigs! https://t.co/i3Ef1FrvjQ #fpga #retrocomputing #vdc2 #vdcII

Assembled revision 4A (hardware bugs and all) of my VDC-II / FPGA card for the RC2014. Works perfectly!! #fpga #vdc2 #vdcII #rc2014 Well, insofar as the VDC-II core works. It's not 100% finished yet.

Decided to rename my RC2014 video card project. It used to be named "Pixel Pusher". But, since I'm planning on reusing the same FPGA board for different purposes in the future, I felt the name was a bit too limiting and not descriptive. #fpga #vdc2 #vdcII #rc2014
