@Venu5angelica They absolutely can claim to be autistic - but - only so long as the evidence is there. They need to be mindful and responsible yet at the same time balance their own well-being. To expect a person, of any capability for that matter, to wait in line for decades, as does happen every day, to find out if they are autistic by diagnosis is downright inhumane and neglectful. The idea is not to dehumanize us. It is to save lives and improve quality of life. Not leave them behind. The point is for both the patient and psychologist to work together. Right now, this is not happening on the professional side. Some of them know it. Are we just supposed to ignore the problems of being or not knowing we are autistic and suffer? Are you aware that this can and does lead to #suicide ? AKA death. Would you want to risk having dead bodies on your conscience? Or would you do like I have done and find a logical middle ground? There are two sides to the #SelfDiagnosis issue: • Those who fake being autistic for attention and clout. • Those who are legitimately autistic and in dire—and I do mean dire—need of support. I’m getting sick and tired of people flipping the proverbial bird to innocent and deserving human beings and leaving us behind. Because that’s what this is doing! You can’t just leave autistic people who need help out in the cold.
