Today, I represented @BritishEcolSoc at #VOF2023, sitting on a Select Committee panel in the Houses of Parliament with @RoyalSocBio. I asked what the government are doing about illegal sewage releases by water companies and the impact of this on aquatic ecosystems 💧

That’s a wrap on #VOF2023 🔬
Just like a real Parliamentary Select Committee session.. there were changes to programming, unexpected delays, and plenty of last minute minute adaptations. But importantly, a room full of people dedicated to ensuring policy is informed by expertise.
In response to Q about supporting middle TRL (from Sarah Davidson @CrodaPlc ) @DefraChiefScien remarked that they hope to increase support for @innovateuk to provide the funding that bridges the ‘Valley of Innovative Death’. #VOF2023
Next up at #VOF2023 we heard from Gideon Henderson @DefraChiefScien about the importance of integrating science evidence into Parliamentary process and ensuring policy remains science-led.
