#VPDScanner: A person gardening near Olympic Village this morning located an old grenade. #VPD explosives experts, along with additional resources, were brought in to examine the device. Confirming the grenade was still a potential danger, it was safely destroyed by police.

#VPDScanner: Officers investigating a couple of break-ins this week on Vancouver’s West-Side have determined the crooks had first broken into vehicles parked nearby, stolen the garage door remotes, and then used the remotes to get into the homes. #VPDScanner: #VPD responded to multiple 911 calls on Sunday near W Georgia & Thurlow where a 32-year-old woman was assaulting random strangers, including a mother walking with her nine-year-old daughter. Thanks to the 911 callers, the suspect was quickly arrested by #VPD patrol officers. #jail

#VPDScanner: A concerned parent did the right thing by calling 911 yesterday when she saw a man masturbating just outside of a school playground in East Vancouver. #VPD patrol officers quickly responded and arrested the 43-year-old suspect. He’s in custody awaiting court later today.

#VPDScanner: A woman was walking near Joyce and Kingsway yesterday when she was kicked in the back by a stranger. She called 911 and provided a description, which was used by #VPD patrol officers to locate the suspect shoplifting nearby. The 38-year-old suspect took a swing at the arresting officer when he was being apprehended. #jail

#VPDScanner: #VPD officers patrolling near W Cordova & Cambie St. early Saturday morning located a man wanted Canada-wide for assault & weapons offences. Once the 37-year-old was arrested, officers found a loaded rifle in his bag, adding to his charges. He remains in custody.

#VPDScanner: On Friday morning, #VPD received a 911 call reporting a 36 y/o suspect had walked into an office on Keefer near Quebec St. and began assaulting a random female staff member. A 74 y/o man intervened and was also assaulted. VPD officers arrived within minutes and arrested the suspect. Both victims were treated by paramedics. #Charged

#VPDScanner: Two constables were patrolling near W. Hastings and Carrall Street when they spotted a man riding a bike on the sidewalk without a helmet last Saturday morning. The officers attempted to stop the cyclist but he ditched the bike and tried to run away.
The officers won the foot chase, arrested the suspect, and discovered he was carrying a loaded gun and $60K in suspected fentanyl, meth, and crack cocaine.
The 35-year-old suspect was taken to jail and remains in custody.

#VPDScanner: This was a busy weekend for violent shoplifter incidents.
On Friday, store employees on Seymour Street were pepper-sprayed by a shoplifter when they tried to stop him from leaving with their property. The suspect fled and the investigation is ongoing.
A loss prevention officer was bear-sprayed after he tried to stop a man for stealing from a market on Abbott near W.Hastings Street on Saturday. No arrests have been made.
A suspect stole bottles of alcohol from a shop on Commercial Drive on Saturday. Rather than complying with store employees’ requests to return the stolen goods, the suspect lashed out and bear-sprayed staff in the face. He got away, but the investigation continues.
And on Sunday, a shoplifting suspect pulled a knife on store security near Granville and W.Georgia Streets. He was arrested by #VPD and charged.

#VPDScanner: Just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, a 34 y/o man in a wheelchair was stabbed multiple times in the neck by a stranger at W Hastings and Carrall Streets. The suspect, a high-risk dangerous offender, tried to run away but was quickly arrested by #VPD officers who were patrolling the area.
Luckily, the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

#VPDScanner: A passerby called 911 early yesterday when they saw a man wearing a balaclava trying to smash out a window at a high-end jewelry store on Burrard St, causing thousands of dollars in damage. #VPD officers arrested the 53 y/o suspect as he was trying to remove a portion of the glass with a 10 inch knife. #teamwork

#VPDScanner: #VPD has arrested a 45 y/o suspect after a 51 y/o victim was stabbed in the chest yesterday. The two men were arguing near Main & Terminal Ave when things escalated & the victim was stabbed a number of times. Several witnesses called 911 & led VPD to the suspect. #jail

#VPDScanner: A loaded handgun and knives were recovered from two suspects, aged 17 and 18, arrested on Sunday for attempting to break into a store on Fraser Street. One suspect tried to flee on an electric scooter, driving into and injuring an officer. Charges are expected.

#VPDScanner: A known shoplifter and a couple of his friends returned to a Robson Street retailer on Monday and stole over $6000 in merchandise before fleeing in a taxi. #VPD officers quickly located the cab, arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen clothing. #Jail

#VPDScanner: A 27-year-old man has now been charged with three assaults from last Friday. He allegedly attacked two strangers in the Downtown Eastside before being arrested by the #VPD. Once in jail, he sucker punched a jail guard. He’s still in custody.

#VPDScanner: Kayla Kelly, 29, has been arrested again & remains in custody. She’s accused of using a lighter to trigger the sprinkler system in a rooming house in the Downtown Eastside last Friday. Kayla has been charged with mischief & for running from police to avoid arrest.

#VPDScanner: A woman had her shoulder bag stolen on Monday near Main St and Terminal Ave. The suspect tried to ride away on a bike but was stopped by a Good Samaritan. The suspect allegedly threatened the owner and pedestrian with bear spray. Two VPD officers driving by at the time intervened and arrested high-risk offender Adam Troy Mann, 40.
In relation to this incident, he’s been charged with:
- Theft $5000 or under
- Possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
- Willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer

#VPDScanner: We had officers assigned to Oppenheimer Park today at the request of the Board of Parks and Recreation. Our primary role was to maintain order as Park Rangers performed their duties within the park encampment.
Shortly before noon, our officers were forced to arrest a man in his 30s who attempted to interfere and obstruct the Park Rangers.
The person arrested does not live within the encampment. He is currently in custody as we prepare a Report to Crown counsel.

#VPDScanner: A FB Marketplace robbery was foiled by slippery conditions in East Van on Saturday. The suspect tried to flee after selling a fake iPhone for $1200. The suspect hit some ice, gravity kicked in & he fell, causing the cash to spread out for the victim to retrieve. Invest continues....
