'However the summary doesn't reveal the full story of the week: The daily advance-decline data traces the week's arc sharply: 15 Sep was the worst session: just 754 advances against 2,824 declines (ratio 0.27) - a near-wipeout day; The trigger was pre-Fed anxiety: US 10-year yields had crossed 5% for the first time since 2023; By Wed, breadth had normalised - 1,688 advances vs 1,851 declines. Thu and Fri showed a clear recovery: 2,262 advances vs 1,279 declines, then 2,387 vs 1,154. The market stabilised once the Fed decision landed and crude began its sharp retreat.
Thus there was a sharp 'v' shaped recovery in the broader market as seen in the daily performances
Ive said this before and saying it again. In my limited 27 years of experience, I've never seen an impending crisis that's been so well called out with so much consensus and it actually becomes a crisis.
Yes, shocks may come but these are well hedged shocks and a v shape recovery is almost always imminent.
With my port at just about lifetime highs, I'm sitting on a sizeable chunk of profits but will hold off selling as my confidence to buy back in time is low.
