5/6 Some productions/companies have already started doing some of these steps, and they should be applauded 👏 for that (which is why we suggest an accreditation scheme - credit where credit's due) but there needs to be greater consistency across the industry

4/6 We suggest some simple steps that film makers and production companies could take to reduce these impacts whilst continuing to make their high impact, beautiful documentaries - some at the individual production level and some across the whole industry

3/6 NH films aim to educate viewers about the natural world & for many of us watching NH 🎥 is what 1st made us want to work in conservation! However some films use highly dramatised narratives that prioritise storytelling over including accurate information

⅚ There is a 🕳 in our field. Research needs to happen for ⬇️ misinformation in 📸; and ⬆️ 💸. Otherwise we will continue to produce 📸 counter to both and impact our ability to interact with the public. A dire fate with the current state of things #DiceCon2022 #ValHWB
4/6 📸 differing in: chimpanzee age, proximity of 👩, 😷 use, and chimpanzee tool use were created to see what combinations increased willingness to donate. Importantly does willingness reflect the current guidelines? The preliminary data suggests 👎 #DiceCon2022 #ValHWB
2/6 The IUCN 2021 guidelines for human and primates 🐵 in photos said 🙅 contact. NGOs response? 🤔🫣 as 📸 of humans touching primates bring in 💸 Yet the studies to support that stance are scarce 🙃. Studies instead focus on misinformation from 📸 #DiceCon2022 #ValHWB
