This is the dashing Hårby Valkyrie, found on the island of Funen in Denmark in 2012 - she's quite the piece, in gilded silver and niello. Let's have a closer look. 🧵 👀

The name of the #valkyrie Ǫlrún is possibly related to the name Alruna, which is the plant #Mandragora - and there just may also be a connection to the ALU-formula, and the "ale runes".

In Norse myths, Valkyries like Sigrún fell deeply in love with some mortal heroes, choosing them on battlefields and even defying #Odin for them. They inspired and protected their chosen, intertwining destiny and romance. ⚔️☠️❤️

As you are offered a choice,
O maple shaft of sharp weapons.
Speech or silence,
You must muse for yourself.
All words are already decided...”

So today is Friday the 13'th! And sorry, it's not more of a "goddess day", except that every Friday is the day of #Freyja! ❤️
Notions of women 🩸 13 times/year, or there being 13 🌚 yearly doesn't hold. Sorry, it's all "neopagan" lore. Prove me wrong?

the web of war
where the warrior banners
are forging forward.
Let his life
not be taken;
only the Valkyries
can choose the slain."

Behold this fair #Valkyrie, found in 2012 in Hårby on the island of Fyn of Denmark!
It may have been used as a pendant, given the hole at the back of her neck.
