Traveling through the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park & Crematory in Kaneohe, then a long scenic drive past Kualoa Ranch. Finally arrived at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton, Turtle Bay on Oahu’s North Shore. #Hawaii #Oahu #TurtleBay #KualoaRanch #ValleyOfTheTemples

#TheTempleofConcordia #Sicily #ValleyOfTheTemples #GreekArchitecture #TheRomanGoddessOfHarmonyAndAgreement An ancient Greek temple located in the Valle dei Templi (Valley of the Temples) in Agrigento, Sicily, Italy. It is one of the best-preserved Doric temples in the world and is considered one of the most outstanding examples of Greek architecture. Here are some key points about the Temple of Concordia: 1. **Construction**: The Temple of Concordia was built in the 5th century BC, around 430-440 BC. It was constructed during the time when Agrigento was a prosperous Greek colony known as Akragas. 2. **Dedication**: The temple is named after Concordia, the Roman goddess of harmony and agreement, but it was actually dedicated to the Greek goddess Hera. 3. **Architecture**: The temple is built in the Doric style, which is characterized by its simple, sturdy columns and triglyphs (three vertical bands) on the frieze. It has 6 x 13 columns and follows the classic design of a peripteral temple with a colonnade surrounding the naos (cella) or inner chamber. 4. **Preservation**: The Temple of Concordia is remarkably well-preserved, especially considering its age. This is due in part to its conversion into a Christian church in the 6th century AD, which helped protect it from being destroyed or repurposed. 5. **Valley of the Temples**: The Temple of Concordia is part of the larger archaeological complex known as the Valley of the Temples, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The valley contains the remains of several ancient Greek temples and other structures. 6. **Tourism**: Today, the Temple of Concordia is one of the main attractions in Agrigento and draws many visitors each year who come to admire its architecture and learn about its history. Overall, the Temple of Concordia in Agrigento is a remarkable testament to ancient Greek architecture and culture, and it stands as a reminder of Sicily's rich and diverse history.

I take my hat off to tour guides. Managing a group of adults is like herding cats. They don’t listen to any instructions and always stand in the way. Give me a class of 30 children any day! #ValleyOfTheTemples #Sicily
