Day 9 of 28 Learning-In-Public Challenge
Plain HTTP hides nothing. Wireshark showed me every word of the conversation.

Day 13/28 with @VictorAkinode
Phishing emails are kind of rude when you slow down and read them. Urgent tone, a reply-to that doesnโt match the sender, and a link that says one thing but goes somewhere else
Hovering before clicking is now a reflex.

Day 8 of 28 Learning-In-Public Challenge
Logs tell you what a system recorded. Packets show you what actually crossed the network.

Day 12/28
Today I learned to read logins like a story. One user, normal hours, same device? Boring. Failures piling up, then success from a new location? Now itโs interesting.
Still checking for a harmless explanation before calling it an attack

VAFMentorship Day 11/28
Todayโs task focused on identifying evidence of viruses, worms, and Trojan horses
I explored the endpoint and network evidence needed to investigate each scenario, from suspicious files and processes to unusual network traffic #Veenodelearn #Cybersecurity
Day 11/28
Malware 101 today. Turns out the question isnโt โis this bad?โ but โwhat proof do I have?โ
Trojan: suspicious process, file hash
Worm: weird spike in network connections
Ransomware: encrypted files, ransom note
Knowing where to look is key.

and unusual outbound traffic.
๐ต๏ธ Spyware: Look for suspicious data transfers, unexpected processes, and unusual network activity.
Key lesson: Investigate both endpoint and network evidence before drawing conclusions. #Cybersecurity #VeeNodelearn

Lesson: unencrypted traffic exposes everything. Always use HTTPS.

Day 10/28 of #Cybersecurity with @VictorAkinode.
-Traced DNS queries to see domains requested.
-Mapped source & destination IPs to follow communication paths.
-Captured HTTP traffic: server replied with 301 Moved Permanently. This means page moved, use new address.

Day 9 of #learninginpublic challenge.
-Practiced narrowing captures by host and protocol.
-Saw the difference between clear HTTP requests and encrypted HTTPS streams.
-Endpoints, timing & metadata stay visible, but passwords & bodies remain encrypted.

Day 8/28 Challenge
Explored network traffic analysis and prepared for log analysis.
Using Wireshark, I'm now able to capture โ filter โ analyze โ document packets, revealing communication patterns and suspicious behavior.

@VeenodeLearn One important lesson: logs help analysts investigate suspicious activity, but a single log entry does not automatically prove who was using an account or device.
Building my cybersecurity knowledge one practical step at a time!

and identify unusual activity.
My key takeaway: don't jump to conclusions from a single log entry. Correlate the evidence first. #VAFMentorship #veenodelearn
Day 7/28.
I learned how system logs, login attempts, security alerts, and network traffic provide valuable evidence when investigating suspicious activity.
It's interesting how small digital clues can help uncover bigger security threats.

Day 6/28 Challenge
I explored essential Linux commands: navigating directories, reading logs, inspecting file permissions, and listing active processes
I'm building confidence in the CLI one step at a time.

My key takeaway for Day 7 is that visibility only improves security when logs are reviewed and alerts are acted on, and that endpoints need layered protection.

VAF Cybersecurity Mentorship DAY 6/28๐ค๐พ
Practised navigating directories, reading log files, checking file permissions, and listing running processes using commands like "pwd", "ls -l", "cat", "ps aux", and "top".

Dayโฏ5/28
I installed VirtualBox and Ubuntu Server, confirmed login.
Iโm using Ubuntu Server because itโs secure, lightweight, and widely deployed.
Unlike Kali which is for testing, Ubuntu is the foundation (defense & hardening).
