It's #InternationalPlantDay 🌿 Did you know several plant species are named after the #Rothschilds? One is the extremely rare and expensive Rothschild Slipper Orchid, which is native to the lower slopes of Mount Kinabalu in Borneo. #Botany #Orchid #NHMTring #VisitTring

#OTD 1868 Walter Rothschild was born. At the age of 7, he remarked, “Mama, Papa, I am going to make a Museum!” and he did! and 155 years after he was born, we still get to enjoy his life’s work and passion for collecting and zoology. #nhmtring #herts #VisitTring #naturalhistory
