The Real Frankenstein Monsters! A recent gossip piece in a WhatsApp newspaper has garnered some attention because it was obviously and enthusiastically shared by some yellow dogs. The piece is a rant by some confused journo who seemed clueless about BRS Social Media. Lets first discuss the core issue. There are many journos based in Hyderabad, who work for National and local media houses. Most of these guys go about doing their job professionally. But, the issue is with a handful of journalists, who double up as online activists and post their opinion about all and sundry things. Many of these online journalists were very aggressive during BRS regime. They used to report and also express opinion about anything and everything. Starting from urban flooding to dog bites, they would respond to various civic, economic, and political issues. Fine. So what happened? Some of these journos started observing radio silence on most issues as soon as Congress came to power. Lock-up deaths, food poisoning in Govt schools, deteriorating law & order, even attacks on journalists, and these journos wouldn't post a word. And quite naturally some BRS sympathizers started questioning these so-called “neutral” journalists. They started posting screenshots of past instances where these journos responded to similar incidents during previous govt, but are keeping mum now. Well done. That’s how it should be. So, what’s the issue? Not used to such questioning, these “questioning voices” suddenly started accusing that “BRS IT Cell” is attacking them! The Frankenstein article in the WhatsApp Newspaper also makes a veiled threat that they wont publish KTR related news as a retaliation! One journo wrote, “we cannot be bullied to report only Pro-BRS News”. As if reporting about peoples’ issues these days is being called “Pro-BRS News”! Is BRS IT Cell really behind this? No! First things First. BRS does not maintain an organized online army or IT Cell like other parties. It just has a team to maintain its official handles. Most of the online activists supporting BRS are volunteers spread across the globe. Some of them have been doing this for last 15 years! Perhaps no other political leader has faced as much abuse, trolling as KCR garu did since past 24 years. BRS has never encouraged any trolling even during the heights of Telangana Movement. KCR & KTR have always advocated that we should question, and not abuse or troll. Why so much scrutiny on few? We are seeing this trend of journalists doubling up as “Consultants” for political parties. While a little bit of extra income is good for anyone, the real issue is its muddying the waters. So, every post, article, video is being scrutinized for its sanctity, and objectivity, by people. The situation has turned worse in Telangana when the Editor of a (once) renowned newspaper started taking care of Congress Social Media parallelly! These people, who are Hunting with the Hounds and Running with the Hares, are the Real Frankensteins! Bottomline: So, choose wisely. Be objective. Avoid travel on two boats at the same time. Answer if someone asks a genuine question. And don’t hesitate to block if someone abuses you! Best Wishes!
