The World Economic Forum (#WEF) and #Accenture have collaborated on a groundbreaking report titled "Modernizing Financial Markets with Wholesale Central Bank Digital Currency (#wCBDC)."
And Accenture invested in Hedera-based EMTECH.
Bank #Indonesia is making significant strides in its three-phase #digitalrupiah #CBDC project, with a focus on wholesale CBDC (#wCBDC). In its latest proof of concept (PoC), the central bank evaluated two leading distributed ledger technologies: R3's #Corda and the #Ethereum-based #Hyperledger #Besu.
Key highlights:
🔒 Corda excelled in privacy requirements, directly meeting the criteria to prevent leakage of transaction participant identities.
🔓 Besu, while offering Ethereum compatibility, faces challenges around privacy – a common hurdle seen in other CBDC projects, like Brazil’s DREX.
This evaluation marks an important step in Phase 1, which focuses on basic issuance, redemption, and funds transfers. Looking ahead, Bank Indonesia plans to:
✅ Explore Zero-Knowledge Proofs for enhanced privacy
✅ Investigate liquidity savings mechanisms
✅ Ensure multi-validator deployments for resilience

This week, Societe Generale-FORGE (SG-FORGE) executed a groundbreaking repo transaction using a wholesale central bank digital currency (#wCBDC) and a digital bond issued on the #Ethereum #blockchain.
This transaction, conducted with the Banque de France, highlights the growing role of blockchain technology in improving settlement efficiency and enabling future use cases such as intraday repo. The bond, originally issued in 2020 on Ethereum, continues to demonstrate the potential of distributed ledger technology (#DLT) in financial markets.
SG-FORGE has consistently led blockchain innovation, from issuing the first bond on Ethereum in 2019 to facilitating digital bond issuances for the European Investment Bank (EIB). It was also the first European institution to issue a #stablecoin (#EURCV) and explore #DeFi lending with #MakerDAO.
This latest milestone reinforces Ethereum’s relevance in institutional finance and SG-FORGE's pioneering role in #digitalassets and blockchain-driven financial solutions.
