We're living in a pandemic and an economic recession.
If you enjoyed today, please know that arts organisations have a bigger responsibility to do right by the young creatives they work with.
To West Midlands arts organisations, what's your pledge? #WMWeekender
What came through our #WMWeekender submissions and each live interview was how our artists have been able to create magnificent work with little to no resources.
Just because this is the case, it isn't okay.
We need to change this because that's an artist's livelihood.
We hope that #WMWeekender showed that we need to make our region feel like a home for our artists and creatives.
It won't feel that way if we don't pay them and support them to work here in the West Midlands.
That's why there's a talent drain and artists look to other cities.
We hope that the #WMWeekender made you experience art forms you wouldn't have otherwise engaged with, and with artists you wouldn't have known, and especially those outside of Birmingham and Coventry.
