Today, I'm saying #WTFEvolution to Thalassocnus. This mammal lived from the Miocene to Pliocene, about 7 -3 million years ago. Thalassocnus was a giant sloth. That lived in the sea. An aquatic sloth... (image: Roman Uchytel).
Today's #WTFEvolution post features a #temnospondyl, Gerrothorax. I probably don't need to point out to you why this animal is weird (just look at it!), but I will anyway (image: Wikimedia commons).
For this week's #WTFEvolution feature I will be looking at Therizinosaurus (image by Peter Schouten). Therizinosaurus is a very weird dinosaur, for a number of reasons.
Obviously, its 1 metre long claws (the largest of any animal, ever) are a good start.
