Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone is one of those things you have to see with your own eyes to truly believe. Whether you walk the boardwalk at Midway Geyser Basin or take the Fairy Falls Trail to the overlook, the colors simply defy belief.

It’s been 9 years since our last attempt to see Lone Star Geyser. We missed it by 30 min.
This time, we came prepared so we could wait out the three-hour cycle to see Lone Star Geyser erupt!
We even got to see a momma moose and calf on the way back!

We finally got out on the trail! A special thanks to fellow @MoonGuides author Becky Lomax for the recommendation on an amazing 5-mile loop. We saw plenty of wildlife, thermal features and, best of all, had the trail to ourselves!

So, this morning we drove from Flagg Ranch up through Yellowstone… and ran into snow as we crossed the Continental Divide. While the temps were hovering just above freezing on the ground, it was cold enough to snow at elevation!
