Life is quite full on at the moment, so it's likely that #WednesdayWritingTips won't appear every week. HOWEVER, there are loads of tips in the bank, so please do check out the archives every Wednesday and see what you find!

Happy planning and dreaming for 2023.
#WednesdayWritingTips
And be kind to yourself. Life happens. &^%* happens. And when it does, being flexible & giving yourself what you need is important. Reset goals & priorities if needed. But keep those dreams tight in your hands. And promise them you'll come back when you can.
#WednesdayWritingTips
Set goals (and ways to celebrate achieving them). Set yourself a challenge - what three ways could you step out of your comfort zone in 2023? What commitments/resolutions could you make? And how will you hold yourself accountable?
#WednesdayWritingTips
Plan NOW about how you can claw back time in 2023 for your writing, then start January determined to claim it. What's doable? One evening a week writing? One 6am alarm call a week? One lunch break a week? With a regular routine & discipline it all adds up. #WednesdayWritingTips
If £ tight but you'd like to invest in something, e.g. a course/critique/conference, and people are asking about Christmas, why not nudge them in the direction of a Writing Fund? Keep a separate bank account if you can so the £ doesn't get swallowed up.
#WednesdayWritingTips
Think about what's important to you writing-wise in 2023. Where would you like to be by the end of the year? Make a plan about what you CAN do to try and get there. Not about what is out of your control, but what positive steps you CAN take to help.
#WednesdayWritingTips
Have a little look at what you didn't manage to achieve but would have liked to. Not to feel discouraged, but to evaluate. Do you still want/need that? Will it go forward for your 2023 list? Do you need to make any changes in order to get it?
#WednesdayWritingTips
In November, look back at what you've achieved over the year. If you wrote a list/plan in January, celebrate what you've managed to get done. (I've usually lost mine by November, but I have a vague sense of what I hoped to do!) CELEBRATE EVERY WIN.

But I can manage today's #WednesdayWritingTips and it's all about 2023! As we come to the end of the year, December gets busy, then we're launched into January & catch breath. To save missing the early weeks of the new year, I use November to make plans. Here are some thoughts.

Today's #WednesdayWritingTips are a bit random because tonight I feel like being a bit random. I was wondering what to chat about and noticed a piece of annotated story on my desk I've annotated. So, I'm going to randomly choose some of my notes and explore them.

So, there you go. Literally some random notes from my desk, but hope they were helpful!

6) "the open and close of the whole story"
Make sure your opening lines and your closing lines of the book are incredibly strong. Your opening lines make a promise to the reader. Your closing lines show the reader how you kept it.
#WednesdayWritingTips
5) "make more of this"
What are your key big moments in your text? Perhaps intense, dramatic moments? Emotional moments? Funny moments? Twisty-turny moments? Have you slowed your reader down enough to appreciate them and digest? Or are you rushing them on?
