Burnout/ stress are significant reasons for educators to leave the profession. I've seen too many friends/ colleagues exit for this reason &I can really empathise. @dcediy @pobal etc always pushing with no consideration of its impact on low paid undervalued educators #whovaluesus

@dcediy @acpire Welcome update for ECEC/ SAC services but it should have been issued earlier and inline with @Education_Ire advice to schools and colleges. It shouldn't take an outcry from the sector to have the same respect for our safety as shown for primary school teachers. #whovaluesus
@rodericogorman bitterly disappointed with the guidance from @dcediy on storm Barra. @Education_Ire clearly stated educational facilities in red/ orange areas to close while we're told to "be care". The safety of children, families and educators need to be paramount. #whovaluesus

Even before the pandemic, there was a staffing crisis but we are now on the verge of losing huge numbers of educators unless pay & conditions are addressed.
SIPTU is calling for the establishment of a JLC, to standards in wages & conditions of employment.

Without much-needed reforms, most Early Years professionals will not remain working in the sector over the coming years.
But we have an opportunity to change that.
Pay scales could be agreed under a Joint Labour Committee to provide a path to professional pay. #WhoValuesUs
Poverty pay is driving us from our profession, our educators cannot afford to stay in the job they love.
We need a commitment to professional pay for our sector.
