WireEdit 3.13.270 is out.
https://t.co/j5aR6HCR9b
Check new HTTP/3 support. Example pcap from #Wireshark GitLab page:
https://t.co/DbpbhhUqx4
Open it with #Wireshark and take a look at say frame 24. Now open the same file with #WireEdit.
Hint: #WireEdit is better ;)
#WireEdit will have support for Wifi 802.11-2020 soon.
#WireEdit, adding support for HTTP/3 is a huge pain...
#WireEdit is now multithreaded and much faster.
Seems like #Wireshark ignores MAC addresses and VLAN tags while reassembling TCP. #Wireedit looks at both.
The hardest part of PCAP anonymization is anonymizing broken packets. Unfortunately #Wireshark is not that good in pointing out packets not encoded to specs and even worse in pointing out the exact reason a packet is considered broken. So we built our own tool for that: #WireEdit
#WireEdit detects TCP and SCTP retransmissions now. Some GUI work remains, but the hard part is done.
And if the same packet goes over different VLANs, it's not counted as retransmission! Looking at you #Wireshark.
Why #WireEdit is slow compared to #Wireshark? Because it's designed to be a packet editor, not an analyzer. The analyzer part is a byproduct which took a life of its own. And yes, it will be much faster soon.
#WireEdit transactions panel finally becoming usable and useful.

Coming soon to a #WireEdit near you:
tcp.port == XYZ && (tcp.flags.rst == 1 || tcp.flags.syn == 1 || tcp.flags.fin == 1)
with the left sides (always) selectable with a mouse click from the middle pane. No need to remember anything beyond logicals ops: (), ==, !=, >, <...
#wireedit can now decode partial packet data. Paste the hex and manually select the stack layers. One can start from any layer.

@PacketDetective @PacketJay The latter (SafePcap) is a CLI command with special knowledge of Mobile Core protocols. Can anonymize pcaps in bulk for GDPR with a single flag. Could be used to do more or less same functionality as #WireEdit with any supported networking stack, but programmatically. Faster too.
Visual Diff on two packets must mean that someday #WireEdit will diff two files?!? #ThinkingOnlyPositiveThoughts
Quick Visual Diff of two packets with WireEdit 2.10
#wireedit port to Qt is progressing nicely. Hopefully will be released in Jan.
Fixing tons of bugs and doing GUI redesign in #wireedit. Will have smth to release soon. Yes, 'Paste' will be included.
