Shocked to see the latest NMC notice regarding FMGE’s During COVID, thousands of Indian students studying abroad were forced into online classes by a global pandemic. Now, years later, the NMC wakes up and demands “onsite compensation” as if students controlled the pandemic. This is not regulation. This is bureaucratic cruelty. Students followed the rules that existed when they enrolled. Universities shifted online because the world shut down. And today the system wants to punish students for a crisis they did not create. If NMC truly cared about standards, it should have issued clear policy during the pandemic, not after students have already invested years, money, and their future. Stop treating FMGs like second-class doctors. Policy cannot be written retrospectively on the backs of students. Fix the system — don’t scapegoat the students.
