Ever creature, monster, player, and npc's footstep is recorded. With the right skills you'll be able to track anything, anywhere that is has been. Weather and skills can erase them.
Scents as well. Walking down a street, you'll smell perfume, body odor, and some races will innately be able to track you by your smell, the same for monsters. Perfume can disguise it, not bathing makes it easier.
Footsteps will be aggregated, #procedural creating game trails, then dirt trails, then hard packed paths.
Overharvesting and planting new species will be tracked, modifying biomes. Change a biome too much and the Herbivores that eat those plants might be forced to relocate, causing carnivores and monsters that eat them to follow, potentially towards a village or town, causing #emergent monster stampedes.
