Funny how social media convinces us that numbers are progress. A few days ago, out of pure FOMO, I got the blue tick. And uff... I found myself checking likes, followers, impressions and engagement far more often than I'd like to admit. Not because I needed them, but because validation is addictive. The irony? The more attention I gave to the virtual world, the less attention I had for the real one. My efficiency at work suffered, my sleep schedule suffered and my connection with some genuinely relatable people and friends here on X has became negligible. Maybe the challenge isn't staying away from social media. Maybe it's remembering why we came here in the first place. For me, it was never about becoming an influencer. It was about connecting with genuine and like minded people, learning from them, sharing, having fun and occasionally posting moments from my real life. Sometimes the best thing you can do is take a step back, reset your priorities and stop letting the algorithm decide what deserves your attention.
