Here's the big deal about #XLS38d that most people probably don't understand.
Normally, issuing tokens on the XRPL has limitations. You can either blackhole the account after initial issuance or retain admin keys to issue more tokens.
XLS-38d changes this. 💁♂️
When the issuer is a sidechain, there are no admin keys to blackhole. Tokens can be issued on the XRPL without a fixed cap or without concern for admin keys minting more supply ad-hoc.
This changes the dynamic of issued assets on the XRP Ledger completely.

Since February 2023 we have been researching the #XLS38d proposal. It’s one of the reasons we run 5 #XRPL nodes in the UK. We are planning and preparing to build a #XDX Sidechain with #XRPL/#EVM compatibility.

This would mean XDX would function as transactional fuel and upgrade from a token to a main net currency.
The XRPL main chain and XDX sidechain would be independent blockchains. We would be able to utilise the smart contract hooking implementation on the XRPL and later provide opportunity for EVM smart contract functionality on the XDX Sidechain.
This is not a comparison to compete with one chain to be better than another but assist, expand and interoperate existing cryptocurrency onto a interconnecting network.

To be clear, this appears to be deprecated, as witness servers have been introduced (#XLS38d).
I haven't had a chance to go over the proposal yet, so I'm afraid I can't comment further. 😅
No idea if that made it even more complicated. 🤞
