My Leading Light for Today: AISHA ADEJUMO ESQ. Team Member, Trust Services, Emerging Africa Trustees Limited
Formerly Advisor, @MeristemNigeria Meristem Family Office |
@GuardianNigeria
Guardian Author
Daughter of Hon. Justice Babatunde Adeniran Adejumo OFR — former President of the @NatIndCourtNig
National Industrial Court of Nigeria, and now Administrator of the National Judicial Institute @NJI_Nigeria
FULL DISCLOSURE.
Aisha is a good friend of mine. She is my first link to the Adejumo family.
Where and how did we meet?
We met at SILVERBIRD GALLERIA, off Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos — then owned by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.
She had come to watch a movie with her sister Mumi and her brother — the name seems to elude me now.
I did not know she was a law student. I did not know the house she came from. I just saw a DECENT HUMAN. GRACEFUL. SUPER DECENTLY DRESSED. Calm. Respectful. You could not miss that aura.
We exchanged numbers.
We would later know she was an aspiring lawyer. She was in ABUAD. I was a first year Associate at Olaniwun Ajayi LP.
I pledged to MENTOR her — until I realised who her father was.
That is the part I still smile about. I offered guidance to a young woman I had only seen as well-raised.
Then the name arrived, and I understood quickly who needed mentoring.
I would later visit their Ikoyi house briefly and meet her siblings as well.
WELL-RAISED. GROUNDED. RESPECTFUL.
A home you could feel was built on DISCIPLINE and VALUES.
From that movie night
to Ikoyi — that is how
life introduces
you to good families.
Why I honour her today is not friendship alone.
In 2023, while serving
as Advisor at Meristem Family Office, she published two pieces
in The Guardian that
still read like trustee language.
On 27 September 2023, she wrote DEALING WITH DISINTEREST OF HEIRS IN FAMILY BUSINESS.
Her question was simple and brave: before asking whether children are prepared to take over, ask whether they actually WANT TO.
Self-actualisation is not rebellion. Refusing to work in the family enterprise does not make a child less family. Blood remains. Ownership can remain. Employment need not
be forced. She offered dignity-preserving answers — develop KNOWLEDGEABLE OWNERS, consider
a FAMILY BANK for independent ventures, and let PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT run the day-to-day where that
is wiser.
On 15 November 2023, she followed with SUSTAINING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT: KEY STRATEGIES FOR FAMILY BUSINESSES.
Diagnosis, then structure. Tradition held in one hand. Innovation in the other. Growth mindset. Culture of innovation. Lead by example. Open the door to the next generation.
Succession planned early. Mentorship. Continuous learning.
Transparency.
Celebrate the wins.
Learn from the falls.
That is not noise.
That is VALUE. That is LEGACY thinking.
If you know the Adejumo family, you know DISCIPLINE, INTEGRITY, and SERVICE.
Justice Adejumo OFR rose from very humble beginnings — shoemaker apprentice
to Warder to Teacher to Lawyer to PRESIDENT
of the National Industrial Court [NIC]
That story of RESILIENCE lives
in his children.
Aisha carries it quietly. BRILLIANT. GROUNDED. DILIGENT. HUMANE.
Daughter of a highly respected Jurist, yet never trading on the name alone. She has built her own path with GRACE and GRIT.
Today that path is Trust Services at Emerging Africa Trustees Limited — from family office advisory into the structures that protect families across generations.
In a profession where many chase noise, she chases stewardship.
In a city where many forget first encounters, I still remember Silverbird.
A decent human first.
A lawyer after.
A friend still.
I celebrate you today, Barrister. More wins. More impact. More light.
From a movie night at Silverbird Galleria to Ikoyi to the Bar to Emerging Africa — thank you for being my link
to a family I hold
in high regard.

My Leading Light: Distinguished Senator Akogun Kamarudeen Olalere Oyewumi Ph.D
@LereOyewumi
@NGRSenate
Ikire. Elere Compound. Born 5 Jan 1960.
I know this Leading Light — though he may not know me.
He signed my LGA Identification as Chairman, Irewole LG.
Those were my formative years. I can still recall how popular he was with the people — so popular, I can't even quantify it.
The chant was everywhere:
UP LERE - THE CHAIR!
He lived with the people. Ate with the people.
As LG Boss, he was memorable. A strong @OfficialPDPNig PDP statesman until he joined @AccordPartyNG
with @AAdeleke_01
Sen. Dr. [Akogun] Lere Oyewumi prioritized what matters:
EDUCATION, INFRASTRUCTURE, WELFARE.
If he was allowed to contest as many times as he wanted, he would have continued to win every time. No ballot could beat that love.
I know him more through my UI roommate, Ajiteru Olalekan Sadiq — Chemistry, UI, graduated with Honours. A direct benefactor of his kindness. Last I checked, he was with Dangote Cement,
@DangoteCement
Obajana — though we lost contact after UI. From Ikire to UI to Obajana. That is what kindness produces.
And I know he personally used his influence to get Ikire sons and daughters into Federal agencies — Customs and likes.
I know 2 Senior Officers in Customs he facilitated and a few more in other agencies. Not stipends — CAREERS.
Teacher → Education Officer FGGC New Bussa → Geography, Ife '87 → Masters & PhD Community Development, UI →
Chairman Irewole LG (1996, 2003-2007) → House of Reps, Third Republic → Federal Commissioner, NPC →
Senator, Osun West, 13 June 2023 till date →
Deputy Minority Leader, 10th Senate.
Former school teacher turned destiny-helper.
Hence, why I wasn't surprised when he stepped up and became the Senatorial Voice for Osun West. From THE CHAIR TO THE VOICE — natural progression.
Some had predicted governorship. It would be nice to see him as Governor of Osun someday.
Arguably the first son of Irewole to become that.
True grassroots.
Man's so loved.

QUOTABLE QUOTE(S)
We celebrate our men & women in uniform for the battles we can see.
We should also honour the ones who make those battles possible.
Rank them still. Remember them still.

#GodBlessOurArmy🇳🇬

When Rank Took a Seat, and Character Walked In
Some meetings announce themselves with sirens.
This one began without them — and ended,
on the same day,
with me trying to follow
a line of Generals toward Victoria Island.
Years ago, near Bonny Camp, Victoria Island,
a man stepped out in mufti. No stars showing. No aides clearing a path. He saw two civilians sitting, and he simply connected. Warm. Unhurried. Human.
I did not know
who he was.
Today he is Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, eighteenth Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply & Transport.
Then, he was a gentleman who
did not need a uniform
to prove his stature.
That first impression has never left me. Neither has the day he opened a cantonment door and, later that same evening, the road taught me
my place.
The Honour Due
a Serving General
On 3 November 2025,
at Corps Headquarters, Bonny Cantonment, Lagos, Major General Shagaya assumed command of NACST.
The appointment came from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. He succeeded Major General Emmanuel Anaryu as the Corps’ eighteenth Commander.
Before that command, he served as Deputy Chief of Operations (Peace Support Operations) at Army Headquarters. He is an alumnus of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.
In January 2026,
he returned there
on an operational visit, commended the school’s transformation, and spoke to the boys
as one who had once sat where they sit.
That is a man who remembers the road.
Since taking command he has been where the Army’s engine actually lives: 81 Division in Lagos, 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, 6 Division in Port Harcourt, barracks works at Ashanti Barracks, Apapa & Corps conference in Benin City in March 2026 — “Optimising ST Capabilities Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery
to Nigerian Army Operations in All Missions.”
His doctrine is plain:
“Operational success
is sustained not only
by combat power
but by the reliability, responsiveness and resilience of the logistics system that supports the force.”
Glory is loud. Sustainment is quiet.
He chose the quiet work — and he is doing it well.
The Invisible Front Line
People cheer the charge. Few clap for the convoy that made the charge possible.
The Corps of Supply & Transport feeds the force, moves the force, fuels the force & keeps the force on the road.
It is among the most thankless assignments in uniform — until a theatre runs dry & everyone suddenly remembers logistics.
Major General Shagaya has made that work visible again: training, welfare, technology & the insistence that combat service support is not an afterthought.
When formations thank NACST for drivers, catering & lift, it is not ceremony. It is an operational thank-you.
We celebrate our men & women in uniform for the battles we can see.
We should also honour the ones who make those battles possible.
Rank them still. Remember them still.
Langtang: Home of Generals — and a Father’s Long Shadow
The name Shagaya did not arrive in the Nigerian Army yesterday.
Major General Nansak
is the son of the late Brigadier General John Nanzip Shagaya, Danburam Langtang II
(2 September 1942 –
11 February 2018): Nigerian Military School, Zaria; Civil War service with the 3 Marine Commando; later GOC 1 Mechanised Infantry Division; Military Secretary; Minister of Internal Affairs; Field Commander of ECOMOG in Liberia in 1993; & Senator for Plateau South. He died on the Jos–Langtang highway & was buried in Langtang with full military honours. His legacies did not end at the graveside. They put on
another uniform.
Langtang North is often called the Home of Generals. In April 2025, while Major General Shagaya was still Deputy Chief of Operations, the Army renovated & equipped the male & female wards of General Hospital, Langtang as
a special civil-military intervention in his honour — funded from Army Headquarters, commissioned on behalf of the then Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede.👇🏻

Bukola ate this with no crumbs. She finished the food and licked the plate join but not the like the plate dirty minds like yours - and yes, I mean you👀🤭😅😂

Thanks for this excellent summary $Buks.
Great tribute to Mayowa Tijani.
His path from UI debates and Mellanby Hall Press to Editor-at-Large at The Cable, plus the Chevening scholarship and fact-checking work, really shows what consistent excellence and integrity look like.

MY X LEADING LIGHT FOR TODAY 👑💫
26 AUGUST 2026
World Class Investigative Journalist.
No be chocho.
I met him during his undergraduate days at the University of Ibadan while he was UCJ [Union of Campus Journalist] President and
before that, NEWS EDITOR OF MELLANBY HALL PRESS.
He studied Agriculture - Animal Science.
And he proved to us that a man should not be defined only by what
he studies or studied.
He had been writing for national newspapers since undegrad days.
I remember even making time to go to Mellanby Hall to not only eat
at their cafeteria,
but also stay glued
to the press board.
From there to the Kunle Adepeju Students Union Building where the UCJ office and press board was, looking for
Fisayo's editorial.
He mentored the likes of Tijani Mayowa of The Cable @thecableng
on writing for national reach.
Both Mellanbites.
Mayowa would end up taking the torch from him as Editor in Chief of Mellanby Hall Press and set it on mad fire.
Beyond UI.
Fisayo has gone on
to work for national newspapers and acted as PIONEER EDITOR IN CHIEF FOR THE CABLE.
Beyond The Cable.
Fisayo has gone on to serve as EDITOR IN CHIEF FOR ICIR. @TheICIR
And today he is the FOUNDER OF FIJ -
@fijnigeria
Foundation for Investigative Journalism.
Fisayo is not
the normal reporter.
He has gone undercover to expose Nigerian prisons, immigration, and other explosive stories. Some of them led to detention.
He is a 3X🏆WINNER
OF THE WOLE SOYINKA AWARD FOR INVESTIGATIVE REPORTING
and recipient of
many other awards.
He is also a REUTERS INSTITUTE FELLOW at OXFORD @UniofOxford
Beyond the awards,
Fisayo proves that
you can be a Nigerian journalist and still serve with INTEGRITY.
You can do this work
and not live in "brown envelopes" like most do.
A notion he shares arguably only with likes Rufai Oseni of Arise TV.
I have written for TheCable, published

Delta’s Pride. Sound Mind. Legacy in Motion.
Some people
inherit a name.
She inherited a mandate.
Daughter of the late
Dafe Jude Akpedeye SAN, OFR — Harvard-trained legal titan, former Delta State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice (2007–2009),
founder of the firm that became Compos Mentis.
When the giant rested in 2020, Emokiniovo
didn’t just step up.
She took the torch
and set the sky on fire.
The credentials
that stop the scroll:
First Class Economics
& Management — University of Bristol
Law — University of Oxford
LL.M. — University of Southern California
Stanford LEAD (2025)
One of the youngest
#CIArb #UK Fellows
in Nigeria
Dual-qualified: England & Wales + Nigeria
The work:
Managing Partner, Compos Mentis Legal Practitioners
Offices: Lagos | Warri | Abuja | Nigeria.
Energy. Oil & Gas. Infrastructure. Project Finance. Arbitration.
87.5% litigation success rate. Landmark wins.
Multinationals. Host communities. Power.
The personal note
that hits different:
I once sat in the same top-tier chambers with her (Olaniwun Ajayi LP).
We co-authored leading publications together.
I saw
the precision up close.
I know the weight.
She is not loud.
She is lethal
in the quietest,
most elegant way.
She mentors. She builds. She raises the girl child through STEM, pro bono, and pure example.
From the creeks of Delta to Oxford lecture halls
to Banana Island boardrooms…
Emokiniovo is proof
that excellence can
be bloodline and personal conquest
at the same time.
My second #XLeadingLight today goes to the woman who turned “Compos Mentis”
(of sound mind) into
a living brand.
Kiniovo…
The oil is not running dry.
The name is
getting sweeter.
SAN is on the way.
We see you.
We celebrate you.
We are proud of you.

THE CINDIECATE

"At Nigeria’s Premier University, the University of Ibadan, she graduated with a First Class.
Then she walked into the Nigerian Law School and repeated the miracle, earning another First Class among the rarest of the rare. Excellence was not her pursuit. It was her native tongue.

My X Leading Light for today is none other than the delectable and charming Cindy.
Oneyka Cindy Ojogbo.
A name that lands
like velvet and steel.
Born in Lagos and raised in the ancient city of Benin, she has always been a star student.
I first met her in one of Nigeria’s oldest cities, Bodija’s quiet corridors still humming with the dust of ambition.
She had just finished
at the Educational Advancement Centre [EAC], A-Level class complete, distinctions gleaming like fresh gold.
She stepped into Year 2 as if the world had already made space for her. And the world did.
At Nigeria’s Premier University, the University of Ibadan, she graduated with a First Class.
Then she walked into the Nigerian Law School and repeated the miracle, earning another First Class among the rarest of the rare. Excellence was not her pursuit. It was her native tongue.
She began her legal life in the famous Banana Island chambers of Olaniwun Ajayi LP,
that legacy firm founded in the 1960s by Sir Olaniwun Ajayi KJW
of blessed memory, former Commissioner
of Education under Awolowo, father to the Harvard and Cambridge trained Very Rev. Prof. Koyinsola Ajayi SAN.
There, under the direct supervision of the learned silk Mr. Wolemi Esan SAN, MBA
(now Deputy Managing Partner) and the Oxford-trained Mrs. Ibi Ogunbiyi with her Master in Law and Finance from the University of Oxford, Cindy sharpened her blade in Power and Energy. The rooms that once shaped Nigerian law now shaped her.
Columbia Law School came next. She returned with an LL.M. focused on Finance and Projects and a quiet fire.
She rose. Partner.
Then Deputy Managing Partner. And now, Managing Partner
and CEO of CLG,
the pan-African law and business advisory firm spanning more than fifty countries.
The youngest partner in the firm’s history,
and one of the rare women who sit at the very apex of a leading continental firm,
raising the bar while the rest of the room is still measuring the height.
Her excellence has been publicly crowned:
the Private Practice Rising Star Award at the African Legal Awards in 2020;
selection as an Advisory Board Member of the African Energy Chamber’s Regulatory Affairs Committee;
and recognition among Africa’s 25 Under 40 Energy Women Rising Stars. These are not ornaments. They are the natural fruit of a life lived at the highest standard.
I have had the privilege of knowing Cindy closely, as a sound, awesome colleague
who carries both brilliance and grace in the same breath.
She has my respect always. Cindy of the good life.
I still recall nights of clubbing with a small circle of friends, laughter spilling into the early hours.
And that long-ago evening at the Lagos Ikoyi Polo Club and later Sip Club late hours -
where we found ourselves in the same room as Seyi Tinubu
and a true-blooded Yoruba prince of the Imperial College London and University of Buckingham-trained lawyer who now serves as one of the Principal Private Secretaries to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The air that night was thick with possibility and the soft clink of glasses.
Those moments stay with me, small windows into the woman behind the silk and the strategy.
Cindy is energy and infrastructure and project finance written
in flesh. She advises governments, financiers, and sponsors across thirty-plus African countries.
She leads with clarity in a sector still learning how to breathe without shortage.
She is the new face of African legal leadership in power and energy, young, precise,
and unapologetically excellent.
From Bodija’s classrooms to Columbia’s halls,
from Banana Island’s polished corridors to the helm of a firm that touches half a continent, Cindy Ojogbo has walked a path few women have walked so far, so fast, so well.
She is not just rising.
She is the light that makes the path visible.
Cindy of the good life.
Cindy who finishes first.
Cindy who leads.
My Leading Light
for today.
And for many days
still to come.

First Class. 3rd of 23.
Oxford — DPhil [Doctor of Philosophy] conferred 1st October 2021.
Three First Classes before his 23rd birthday.
25+ scholarships.
Not genius.
Just a man thirstier for excellence than the rest of us are for air.
He argued in the courts and boardrooms of London and Paris.
Today he stands inside Chevron, guarding billions with iron principle and quiet brilliance.
But excellence without burden is vanity.
So in 2017,.he planted a tree that still bears fruit:
The Reginald Aziza Leadership in Law Scholarship.
For the child with brains but no fees.
“I would be
delighted to be a part
of your success story.”
His father wanted
a neurosurgeon.
He chose to heal a nation instead —
and laid his Oxford doctorate at his
father’s feet.
Excellence is not an act. It is a habit.
And this man has made it non-negotiable.
From OAU moots to CANTAB and OXON
to Chevron.
The standard
never dropped.
The promise was kept.
Proud Delta State son.
Proud OAU product.
Proud African
excellence in its purest,
most relentless form.
We see you,
Dr. Onoriode
“Reginald” Aziza.
We celebrate you.
We honour the fire
you refused to dim.
The books

My Eternal Tribute to
My Lifetime Legacy
#XLeadingLight is for none other but the very:
Sir Pascal Gabriel Dozie, CON, OON (9 April 1939 – 8 April 2025)
The Don of Nigerian Banking. Builder of Builders. Banker of Bankers. Architect of Institutions. Quiet Titan of the Dozie Dynasty.
There are men
who build companies.
There are men
who build fortunes.
And then, there are men who build people — and through those people, build nations.
Pascal Gabriel Dozie [PGD] was the latter.
Born on 9 April 1939 in Egbu village, Owerri, Imo State, into the modest home of Charles Dozie
(a Catholic catechist)
and Janet Dozie,
he was the fifth of eleven children. He lost his father at fifteen.
The quiet dignity
and resilience of his widowed mother
planted in him a lifelong commitment to service, justice, and compassion for the vulnerable.
That seed later bloomed into the Janet Dozie Foundation for widows.
He studied Economics at the London School of Economics and
earned a Master’s in Administrative Science from City University, London. He returned to Nigeria in 1971 and,
with his wife Chinyere, started the African Development Consulting Group from a relative’s living room.
In 1991 he founded Diamond Bank — a bank for the market woman, the student, the SME, and the trader who risked robbery carrying cash. He pioneered electronic transfers, retail banking, youth
and women-focused products, and technology long before it was fashionable.
He served as CEO until 2006 and successfully handed over —
one of the earliest true family successions in Nigerian banking.
The Mentor Factory
Diamond under Pascal Dozie was called a “banking university.”
Character first.
Ethics non-negotiable.
He delegated early, trusted deeply, and celebrated when those he raised outgrew him.
What his peers
and mentees said:
Governor Alex Otti
@alexottiofr (former CEO of Diamond Bank):
“Dr. Pascal Dozie was a renowned entrepreneur, investor, and statesman whose impact on humanity cannot be overemphasized.
He wrote his name in gold in many areas…
His legacy will not fade. His name will be etched in the memories of many and will serve as
an inspiration for generations of young Nigerians striving for excellence.”
Herbert Wigwe
(of blessed memory):
Repeatedly described him as “a father,
a mentor, and a reference point for integrity in banking.”
Ken Opara (immediate past President, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria):
“He was one
of the people who revolutionised banking; retail banking development is majorly what you can attribute to him…
He was very meticulous and forthright.
He had always maintained that there is no shortcut in banking.”
Peter Obi:
“A true gentleman and
a teacher who always sought the good of all.”
President Bola Tinubu:
“A rare breed business leader whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering efforts laid a foundation upon which many continue to build.”
Ike Chioke (Afrinvest):
“He led by the power of his example, not by the example of his power. His legacy is one of service without self-interest, leadership without arrogance, and faith without cynicism.”
Umaru Kwairanga (Chairman, NGX Group):
“Above all, he was a builder of institutions…
With foresight and steady leadership, he laid the foundation for a world-class Exchange.”
Raymond Obieri (former NSE Council President):
“Pascal was the kind of leader who brought calm to chaos and vision to uncertainty.
His leadership was never about power, it was always about purpose.”
Gabriel Idahosa (President, Lagos Chamber of Commerce):
“A man of unwavering principle whose
life embodied ethical leadership and nation-building.”
Karl Toriola (CEO,
MTN Nigeria )
and Ralph Mupita
(CEO, MTN Group):
Praised his
“unwavering belief in Nigeria’s potential,”
“commitment to excellence and integrity,” and described him as a “quiet revolutionary”
and steady hand

And my personal touch:
@TheAishetu
A while back, the Aishetu Fatima Dozie family and I stayed
in the same apartment building in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Yummie Ogbebor
(my previous #XLeadingLight) confirmed it to me herself.
I met Aisha a couple of times by the staircase.
We introduced ourselves, exchanged contacts, connected
as neighbours.
Small world. Beautiful world. Two women of Bini/Ogbebor heritage, both featured in this series, once sharing
the same Ikoyi landing.
That is why
she stands out.
She bridges the projects
and the boardroom,
Wall Street
and Lagos, finance
and beauty, ambition and faith, motherhood
and public service —
all while remaining warm enough to exchange contacts with a neighbour on the stairs.

#XLeadingLight Post
My X Leading Light for today — and firmly in line with my usual
#XLeadingLight Series — is Aishetu Fatima Dozié, Founder & CEO of
Bossy Cosmetics. @BossyBeautyInc
Let's give her the full flowers. The whole book.
Aishetu (everyone
calls her Aisha) is
a first-generation American born in Boston/Cambridge to Nigerian parents in Section 8 housing.
Her mother is Yoruba with deep Bini roots through grandmother Esohe Ogbebor —
a proud Bini woman whose language, love, and fierce protection shaped her. Aisha is proudly Esohe’s first granddaughter.
Her father is Nupe
from Niger State.
From the projects to Cornell (BA Economics) → Harvard Business School (MBA 2002) → Harvard Kennedy School → Stanford Distinguished
Careers Institute.
She refused to let circumstances
write her ending.
Nearly 20 years
in global finance:
Goldman Sachs NY,
work with
President Obasanjo’s govt on NEEDS + $18B Paris Club debt write-off,
World Bank across LatAm/Eastern Europe/East Africa,
then Lehman,
Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered,
and GM & Head of IB West Africa at Rand Merchant Bank.
$130B+ in M&A, IPOs and capital markets deals. Lived in NY, London, Joburg, Lagos.
In 2018, after burnout, she left Wall Street to build with purpose.
Bossy Cosmetics
was born — a mission-driven,
cruelty-free, vegan brand she calls “a women’s empowerment
business that masquerades as
a beauty business.”
Lipsticks named Faith, Hustle, Courage, Wisdom, Bravery.
Bootstrapped with
her husband + mom.
Launched March 8, 2019. Scaled to JCPenney, Nordstrom, Amazon, QVC.
Oprah’s Favorite Things 2021 + 2023. Featured in Fast Company, Forbes, Essence, Allure, NPR’s How I Built Resilience.
Boardroom resume:
The Vita Coco Company (NASDAQ: COCO)
since 2022 — Audit + Nom/Gov/ESG.
Helped drive 200%+ share-price growth.
Previously Altimeter Growth Corp —
Compensation Chair for the historic ∼$40B SPAC merger with Grab.
She is married to Ngozi Dozie — co-founder of
Carbon fintech
and one of the five sons of the late Sir Pascal Gabriel Dozie,
founder of Diamond Bank + pioneering
MTN Nigeria Chairman.
Together,
they have 3 sons.
She also built a pioneering children’s play centre in Lagos, authored _Paloo & Friends in Imaginaria_,
and created the African HERstory series amplifying African women.
Even after a multi-year trademark battle that led her to wind down Bossy Cosmetics operations in late 2025,
she continues with grace — now in Barcelona, painting,
writing her memoir,
and serving on public-company boards.
Resilience isn’t a slogan. It’s her pattern.
And my personal touch:
A while back, the Aishetu Fatima Dozie family and I stayed
in the same apartment building in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Yummie Ogbebor

and Lagos, finance
and beauty, ambition and faith, motherhood
and public service —
all while remaining warm enough to exchange contacts with a neighbour on the stairs.
She reclaims “bossy” as a compliment. She leads from the front. She gives other ambitious women permission to look good, feel good, and do good.
Aishetu Fatima Dozié is a queen of quiet fire and unbreakable excellence.
Give her every flower. She has earned the entire garden.

(my previous #XLeadingLight) confirmed it to me herself.
I met Aisha a couple of times by the staircase.
We introduced ourselves, exchanged contacts, connected
as neighbours.
Small world. Beautiful world. Two women of Bini/Ogbebor heritage, both featured in this series, once sharing
the same Ikoyi landing.
That is why
she stands out.
She bridges the projects
and the boardroom,
Wall Street
and Lagos, finance
and beauty, ambition and faith, motherhood
and public service —
all while remaining warm enough to exchange contacts with a neighbour on the stairs.
She reclaims “bossy” as a compliment. She leads from the front. She gives other ambitious women permission to look good, feel good, and do good.
Aishetu Fatima Dozié is a queen of quiet fire and unbreakable excellence.
Give her every flower. She has earned the entire garden.

#XLeadingLight Post
My X Leading Light for today — and firmly in line with my usual
#XLeadingLight Series — is Aishetu Fatima Dozié, Founder & CEO of
Bossy Cosmetics. @BossyBeautyInc
Let's give her the full flowers. The whole book.
Aishetu (everyone
calls her Aisha) is
a first-generation American born in Boston/Cambridge to Nigerian parents in Section 8 housing.
Her mother is Yoruba with deep Bini roots through grandmother Esohe Ogbebor —
a proud Bini woman whose language, love, and fierce protection shaped her. Aisha is proudly Esohe’s first granddaughter.
Her father is Nupe
from Niger State.
From the projects to Cornell (BA Economics) → Harvard Business School (MBA 2002) → Harvard Kennedy School → Stanford Distinguished
Careers Institute.
She refused to let circumstances
write her ending.
Nearly 20 years
in global finance:
Goldman Sachs NY,
work with
President Obasanjo’s govt on NEEDS + $18B Paris Club debt write-off,
World Bank across LatAm/Eastern Europe/East Africa,
then Lehman,
Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered,
and GM & Head of IB West Africa at Rand Merchant Bank.
$130B+ in M&A, IPOs and capital markets deals. Lived in NY, London, Joburg, Lagos.
In 2018, after burnout, she left Wall Street to build with purpose.
Bossy Cosmetics
was born — a mission-driven,
cruelty-free, vegan brand she calls “a women’s empowerment
business that masquerades as
a beauty business.”
Lipsticks named Faith, Hustle, Courage, Wisdom, Bravery.
Bootstrapped with

#Omalichanwa
For D'Bella.
@Nccbella
Omalichanwa. Asanwa.
Bella. Belle. Hermosa.
Igbo daughter. Entrepreneur. Storyteller.
Enugu’s diamond. Black is diamond 💎
She said it herself:
"I'm the most beautiful babe on X"
So today,
we don’t just say it.
We crown it.
Some women
are flowers.
Omalichanwa is the whole garden.
Wherever she tweets,
the timeline blooms.
Some people post.
Asanwa posts,
and 14,000 people stop to smell the roses.
She doesn’t
chase sunlight.
She IS the sunlight.
Not loud.
Not bitter.
Just growing,
glowing, giving.
In a world of thorns,
she is petals - Belle.
In a world of noise,
she is fragrance - Bella.
In a world
that forgets beauty,
she is the bouquet - Hermosa.
She makes us laugh:
"Dating your neighbor... broom dey follow" 😂
She makes us think:
"What's your real life escape?"
She makes us hope:
"May our today be
better than yesterday."
Her feed is not content.
It’s a garden.
Grace. Humor.
Truth. Ambition.
Planted with care. Watered with realness.
14,000 people didn’t follow by accident.
They followed
because life is duller
when Omalichanwa
is not in bloom.
So today we crown her.
So today
we give her flowers.
Out loud.
Publicly.
The way
a queen deserves.
Thank you, Omalichanwa Bella,
for being light
when it’s dark.
For being soft
when it’s hard.
For being proof that
God still sends
beautiful things.
May your today be
better than yesterday.
May your garden
keep growing.
May your joy bloom daily.
May every good thing find you
the way bees
find flowers.
We see you, Omalichanwa. 🌹
We honor you, Asanwa🌹
We celebrate you, Bella, Belle, Hermosa. 🌹

#XLeadingLight: PROF YEMI OSINBAJO SAN GCON🇳🇬
THE ONLY GOOD THING THE APC EVER HANDED NIGERIA…
BEFORE TINUBU’S GREED SNATCHED
THE STEERING WHEEL
Let’s be clear
from the jump.
The same APC that today is busy gaslighting a whole country with “emilokan” slogans, subsidy-removal shock therapy, and daily masterclasses in how not to run an economy once produced one actual adult in the room.
That adult was Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN GCON. Eight years of quiet competence. Zero scandals. Zero theatrics. Maximum results.
Arguably the most hardworking, most memorable Vice President in Nigerian history. Full stop.
And then Tinubu’s raw hunger for the presidential seat pushed him aside.
We watched competence get sacrificed on the
altar of “it’s my turn.”
Now we live with the receipts of that greed every single day.
1. The Acting President who actually acted (2017). 154 days.
Not one wasted.
While others would have treated “Acting” like a holiday, PYO treated it like a mandate:
Took the National MSME Clinics to 26 states – ministers sat with market women and artisans, not just “stakeholders.”
Launched TraderMoni: 2 million petty traders got ₦10,000 collateral-free, no chairman,
no “settle me.”
Signed the Ease of Doing Business Executive Order – ports and airports stopped being ransom zones overnight.
Walked into the Niger Delta himself, sat with kings, youths and former militants, and oil production actually rose.
Signed the ₦7.44 trillion 2017 budget and made capital projects the priority, not the usual “recurrent first.”
Scaled N-Power, School Feeding and GEEP without the usual drama.
Calm voice. Scripture + law + data. No insults. No threats.
Just “let’s solve this.”
Nigeria briefly tasted technocratic leadership.
Then the system
chose noise instead.
2. They almost killed him – and he still showed up the next day.
June 2019. Kaduna.
Helicopter goes down
in bad weather.
12 people on board.
By sheer grace,
zero casualties.
Most politicians
would have milked it
for sympathy tours.
Osinbajo walked out, thanked God, and
went back to work
the next morning.
That is the difference between a servant
and a careerist.
3. The ice-cream jab and the cosmic irony
2022 primaries.
The “ice cream” mockery – soft, powerless,
just a decorative VP.
Thrown to bury him.
Fast-forward: the same Kashim Shettima who enjoyed that jab is now the one sitting in the seat he mocked.
And every day he occupies that office,
Nigerians quietly measure him against
the man they tried
to diminish.
Politics really is poetry… and sometimes it writes itself in pure shade.
4. Eight years of actual work (not just presence)
Led the economic team that tried to fight
with numbers instead
of propaganda.
Built the largest social investment programme in Africa at the time.
Pushed fintech, startups and the “The Future is Here” agenda when talking tech still sounded exotic in Aso Rock.
Brought constitutional law and personal
integrity into a place that had long forgotten both.
He never needed to shout. He never
needed to steal.
He just needed to be Yemi Osinbajo.
5. What he is doing now – Elder Statesman edition. Left office in 2023. Did not disappear into silence or exile.
Leveled up:
Co-Chair, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet – fighting for clean energy access for a billion people,
Africa first.
Regular voice at Davos, COP, Harvard, Oxford, Chatham House, Brookings – teaching governance, ethics and rule of law to the world.
Still the quiet phone call African leaders make when they need calm, not chaos.
Back in the classroom, still pastoring, still mentoring the next generation.
The man Nigeria under-used is now a global export.
The irony is thicker than the hardship under the current regime.
The painful truth
we all know.
We had the
professor in the room.
We saw competence without arrogance,
faith without fraud, service without stealing.

Today we celebrate Esther Umoh💙 @EstherUmoh10
"Photography is the story I fail to put into words." — Destin Sparks
"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you, the less you know." — Diane Arbus
What people say about her:
"Esther is one of the most consistent and truthful voices documenting this movement." — Peter Obi
@PeterObi
_"She shows up everywhere. Her work is proof that integrity still exists in this game."
— A Supporter
In a time where
many chase papers
and clout,
where some sell loyalty for a plate of porridge...
Esther chose integrity.
Esther chose resilience.
Esther chose nurturing.
Esther chose
building in silence.
Esther chose
to be FEARLESS.
From 2023 to 2026 — still with the team.
Bauchi. Imo. Anambra. Edo. Lagos. Abuja.
Everywhere history
is happening,
her lens is there.
She’s not just the one who _captures_ the moments.
She’s the one who speaks her mind.
Bold as a lion.
Critics be damned.
Fearless as
Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Truthful as Obi himself.
Beautiful. Decent. Thoughtful. Vocal.
Her lens tells the truth.
Her voice
stands for truth.
Her life is truth.
102K follow her because character speaks louder than captions.
Her "Work fit" is clean. Her heart is cleaner.
Her spine is steel.
Dear Gracious Esther,
Thank you for
reminding us that quiet consistency + bold truth still wins.
Thank you for documenting history
so we don’t forget it.
Thank you for speaking up, for showing up, for staying, captivatingly capturing Queen Esther.
We see you.
We honour you.
We celebrate you.
Keep building. Keep leading. Keep roaring.

@TheICIR
And today he is the FOUNDER OF FIJ -
@fijnigeria
I have written for TheCable, published
on FIJ, and also published with ICIR.
Anytime I reach out to him, he replies and calls me "Prof". That is the kind of man he is.
From Animal Science
to holding power
to account.
From campus press boards to newsrooms that shape the nation.
That is why he is my
X Leading Light today.

![jose66542's tweet photo.
Her excellence has been publicly crowned:
the Private Practice Rising Star Award at the African Legal Awards in 2020;
selection as an Advisory Board Member of the African Energy Chamber’s Regulatory Affairs Committee;
and recognition among Africa’s 25 Under 40 Energy Women Rising Stars.
My Leading Light
for today.
And for many days
still to come.](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HQYzrjEXEAAsrQ_.jpg)

SHE CLOTHES ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST.
SHE LIVES ONLY
THE BEST OF LIFE.
Let me break down

CEO/Founder - Boss Beauty and Life Partner to one of the Dozie's twins who I happened
to be next door neighbour with at
my then Ikoyi Lagos apartment with view
of Ikoyi Club, Falomo Bridge, Church of Assumption
and MTN HQ.
I recall sharing this fact with Yummie at a time and we both having
to relish how small
the world is.
QUEEN OF GOOD LIVING:
She just spent a month in Sicily, Italy 🇮🇹
And she ensured those of us on her WhatsApp
had a full taste of la dolce vita🤭😊
Though I knew
more about the trip
from her WhatsApp updates as if I were
in Sicily myself.
THE POWER ROOMS:
Ebony Life TV. Glam Networks. GTB Fashion Weekend x TY Bello.
FROM RED CARPET
TO BOARDROOM
TO SICILY.
The best don’t
gamble with their image
OR their life.
They go to Yummie.
HER WORDS:
"Designers create pieces. I help them
tell a story."
"27 hours. 2 hours sleep. I am ALIVE on set."
"Run Your Own Race."
"There is only
one version of me."
THE STANDARD:
2017: BellaNaija called her "Super-Stylist"
2026: The Studio,
Oniru Extension, Victoria Island is still THE plug.
9+ YEARS of
clothing excellence.
9+ YEARS of hard work. Heartaches.
No shortcuts.
THE TRUTH:
She said "I am for everyone and
anyone who needs."
But the industry knows:
If you want to look like royalty AND live like it,
you go to the Queen.
PERSONAL NOTE:
She’s the one
I reached out to today,
having not spoken
since her Italian trip.
I’m saying this as
she's equally a recent client of mine too.
She reached out to me last year to help her close a market-defining real estate deal that will considerably help with her business expansion.
I recall being in
her workspace and
I was BLOWN AWAY.
The standard is REAL.
The experience
is everything.
THE CRAZIEST PART?
She’s so very modest and humble
through it all.
No ego. No loudness. Just excellence.
SO WE DECLARE:
YUMMIE OGBEBOR
IS THE QUEEN
OF NIGERIAN
FASHION STYLING.
QUEEN OF GOOD LIVING AND LIFE👑
SHE CLOTHES ONLY THE BEST OF THE BEST.
NOW IT'S YOUR TURN:
1. TAG someone living their best life 👇
2. TAG @ http//s.b.youme to put flowers on her
3. SAVE this to remind yourself what excellence looks like
