## Today's ##MutantSpotlight on ##XMenMutants: Shen Xorn
Shen Xorn, a mutant with a unique and mysterious power, burst onto the X-Men scene in May 2004 in X-Men (Vol. 2) #157, created by Chuck Austen and Salvador Larroca. His abilities stem from a black hole within his head, allowing him to manipulate gravity, generate blinding light, sustain himself without the need for food or water, and even perceive death in his vicinity - he is also telepathic. It should also be noted that most of Shen's head was destroyed when his powers manifested
Initially believed to be the twin brother of Kuan-Yin Xorn, whose star-shaped brain caused chaos among the X-Men, Shen's true nature was shrouded in intrigue. He revealed that an outside influence, later unveiled as Sublime, drove his brother to madness, masquerading as Magneto.
Throughout his journey, Shen grappled with his identity and powers. During a confrontation with the Brotherhood, he unleashed the destructive force of his black hole, inadvertently transporting them to Mojoworld. Despite this chaotic event, Shen chose solitude over joining the X-Men, opting to meditate on his circumstances.
In the wake of M-Day, which stripped countless mutants of their powers, Shen seemingly regained his abilities. However, he became a target for the Dark Riders, who hunted mutant healers. Despite warnings, Shen preferred isolation until the Dark Riders' assault forced him into action, resulting in a clash that left him questioning his role.
Shen's path intersected with major events in mutant history, including the Secret Empire's rise and fall. Manipulated by Emma Frost, he became a figurehead for New Tian, unaware of her schemes. Following these tumultuous events, Shen joined a makeshift team of X-Men, battling threats like the Mothervine virus and its creators.
Ultimately, Shen made the ultimate sacrifice in a showdown with Bastion, unleashing the full power of his black hole to vanquish the threat. Though presumed dead, he was resurrected on Krakoa, where he joined his brother in service to mutantkind.
In recent years, Shen's allegiance to Legion led him on a journey to confront Onslaught, culminating in a decisive battle within the psychic landscape of the Altar. Through trials and tribulations, Shen Xorn remains a testament to the resilience and complexity of mutants in the Marvel Universe.
