What kind of #FoodSystems do we want by 2050?
π― Day 3 of #YLPinAction invited participants to think long-term, focusing on the future young leaders want to help build.
Through foresight activities and group discussions, young leaders explored the tensions between past, present and future: βοΈ inequality, ποΈ fragmented governance, π± climate vulnerability and π₯ exclusion from decision-making.
Also, a session with the @World_FoodForum opened space to reflect on how young leaders can remain engaged, connected and influential beyond the lifespan of their cohort. Participants explored practical pathways for continued collaboration, learning and action across global youth programmes and networks.
π‘ One idea resonated strongly across the young leaders: meaningful transformation can only happen through sustained participation over time.

Day 2 of #YLPinAction explored a different side of leadership: influence.
π£οΈ How do you communicate ideas in spaces shaped by politics, institutions and competing priorities? How do you turn knowledge into something people connect, support and act on?
Sessions focused on campaign-building exercises, challenging participants to think beyond βraising awarenessβ and focus instead on influence, storytelling, advocacy and real entry points for change.
πA strong thread across the conversations was that stories we tell shape how people understand #FoodSystems, whose voices are heard, and what solutions gain momentum.
The day also reminded participants that youth leadership is not only about speaking up, but about building the confidence, networks and strategies needed to navigate systems and create impact collectively. π±π€

Day 1 of #YLPinAction sparked powerful reflections on what leadership means in times of complexity and change: it is not only about authority or technical expertise, but about the ability to help people navigate complexity, adapt to change and work collectively to address challenging times.
π A recurring message throughout the session was the shift from βIβ to βweβ β recognizing that food systems transformation depends on co-creation and shared learning.
Key takeaways:
π Food systems transformation must start from local realities β not top-down approaches.
π£οΈ Youth are not an homogeneous group. Farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs, activists and consumers all experience food systems differently and must be engaged differently too.
π€ Collaboration over competition. Real change requires trust, collective action and co-creation.
π Data, financing and policies matter β but transformation depends on inclusive participation, behaviour change and strategic partnerships.
Spaces like this are not only for reflection, but for collective action.

#YLPinAction is live!
π’ The Youth Leadership Programme Convening has officially started, bringing together the next generation of #FoodSystems leaders in developing countries.
Participants are committed to shape what #FoodSystemsTransformation looks like in practice and what remains challengingΒ β from the rising cost of healthy diets and the need to βproduce more with lessβ due to environmental pressures, financing gaps, and the challenge of turning national pathways into real policies on the ground.
π A recurring message throughout the discussion was clear: moving from ambition to implementation requires π€ strategic partnerships, ποΈΒ institutional reforms, and π° sustained investment in those who can shape the future.
