The remains of the Royal Palace of the #YarkentKhanate, proudly situated in the venerable city of #Yarkent (also spelled #Yarkend, #Yarkand, #Yarkant). Yarkent, a city with deep #Uyghur roots, is among the oldest and most historically significant cities in #EastTurkistan, with a recorded history going back to least the 1st century BCE. Throughout history, Yarkent has stood as a bastion of Uyghur heritage and a pivotal center of Uyghur/Turkic sovereignty. It has served as the esteemed capital of various kingdoms and states, including the ancient Kingdom of Yarkent from the 1st century BCE to the 2nd century CE, the Dughlati Kashgar (State of Kashgar) from 1465 to 1514, the Mamlakati Yarkent (State of Yarkent/Yarkent Khanate) from 1514 to 1705, and the State of Yette Sheher (Kashgaria) from 1865 to 1877. Today, this city not only embodies the spirit of the East Turkistani people but also stands as a steadfast symbol of resistance against the erasure of our national identity and sovereignty. Its historical role as the center of political power poignantly highlights its crucial contribution to the ongoing struggle for the heritage and independence of East Turkistan.
