This week's #FridayFrills and for the end of #YellowMay is this 1914 Worth evening dress belonging to Queen Alexandrine of Denmark. She was queen from 1912-1947 through her marriage to King Christine X in 1898. She was only 18 at the time and so was 34 when she wore this gown...

what kind of caliber she is in. She was mostly known for her evening dresses and wedding gowns, but as you can see her daywear was on point. This dress was bought by Fayette Hayek Lundgren after a visit with her mother to one of Jents' biannual parades. @powerhouse #YellowMay
#Ootd is this 1818 British silk gown. Like the other Regency dress, I shared last week, it has Renaissance-inspired sleeves and is gathered in back for a slight train. This one however has a heavily trimmed skirt, which would continue into the 1820s. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is this 1950s yellow silk dress with a matching jacket embroidered with flowers in beads and rhinestones and polka dotted all over with seed beads. Elaborate embroidery really needs to make a comeback. #YellowMay #Fashionhistory

#Ootd is this mid-19th c. silk gown, also currently on view @metmuseum. It has swooping lines with the low shoulder sleeves that mirror the width of the very full skirt, however, the sharp point of the bodice in front is quite severe and imposing. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is this 1804-15 gown. It has the typical high-empire waist of the Regency period, but there are some more interesting features, like the gathers in the back that make a slight train and the Renaissance-inspired sleeves. So gorgeous. #YellowMay @metmuseum #Fashionhistory

This week's #FridayFrills is this 1960s yellow silk cocktail dress embroidered with glass beads and rhinestones in the shape of flowers or stars. And it has a nice little bow in front 😉. It was sold online for only $202. #YellowMay #Fashionhistory

Another dress with a front bow. #Ootd is this 1967-9 George Halley evening dress. This was made right after Halley made his 1st collection and around the time he won the Coty Award (1968). He even worked with the likes of Charles James & Richard Avedon. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is the yellow floral Givenchy dress Audrey Hepburn wore in the 1957 film Funny Face. It is covered in what I believe to be yellow, orange, & white chrysanthemums. It was sold at auction and is now @newbridgesilver Museum of Style Icons in Ireland. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

draped fabric belt along the waist. Inside is bustier in yellow silk crepe and cream taffeta. Stunning! It is currently for sale @1stDibs. It is too fragile to wear, so would be a collector's item. #YellowMay #Fashionhistory

to ensure the fit. Sadly, I couldn't find a picture of the dress from the front, but here is a photo of a model in "Balenciaga & Spain" in an identical dress. The one here was sold @KerryTaylorAuct for £23,000! #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is this 1960s Balenciaga yellow silk ballgown. The waistline lowers as it goes from the front to the back with pleats tucked in to turn the voluminous skirt into a tightly fitted bodice. It was sold for auction @KerryTaylorAuct £4,200. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is this pale yellow silk shantung day dress by Gustave Tassell worn by Jackie Kennedy on her trip to Jaipur, India on March 19, 1962. On that day, she also rode atop an elephant with her sister Lee Radziwill. The dress is @JFKlibrary #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

This week's #FridayFrills is this 1760-5 sack back made of floral silk, depicting honeysuckle and rosebuds, from Spitalfields woven in 1755-60. It was later altered in the 1770s/80s and then the 1870-1910s. The yellow is still as bright as ever though. #Fashionhistory #YellowMay

#Ootd is this 1950s silk taffeta & faille dress by Ann Lowe. She was an expert in manipulating fabric to make various shapes. Usually, she made flowers, but here we see how she could make dramatic bows and pleats. And those shoulder sleeves! 🤌 @NMAAHC #Fashionhistory #yellowmay

with the ideal body standards of this time, as seen in her book "Wife Dressing: The Art of Being a Well-Dressed Wife," than the reality for most women when corsets were worn in the 1800s. #Yellowmay #Fashionhistory

This super late #ootd for #yellowmay is a 1770-76 robe a la francaise. It was made using a 1740 textile featuring yellow silk brocade with flowers in multicolored silk. It was worn by Jane Sloan LeConte who lived in Shrewsbury New Jersey. @colonialwmsburg #Fashionhistory

I'm finding that yellow is not an uncommon color of the 1920s. #Ood is another flapper dress, this time in velvet and gilt lace by Callot Soeurs. It was sold at a @ChristiesInc's auction in 2009 for £1,000-1,400. Not bad! #YellowMay #Fashionhistory

relationship with her daughter, and her specialty in mother-and-daughter fashion. #OOTD is thus this her 1925 dress called "Lesbos." While not entirely fitting in with #YellowMay as it is a yellowish-green, it is too good to resist with bejeweled beaded braids. #Fashionhistory
