♦️Happening in Parliament♦️ EFF Member of Parliament, Honourable @SihleLonzi, speaking during the Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities: Commissar Lonzi raised serious concerns about the Department and Minister’s selective involvement in matters related to gender-based violence and youth issues, questioning their consistency, credibility, and commitment to their constitutional mandate. He cautioned that Ministers have no authority to summon individuals to Parliament. That responsibility lies with Members of Parliament serving on the relevant Portfolio Committee. Ministers report to Members of Parliament; they do not instruct MPs on how to conduct their duties within Parliament. Commissar Lonzi also questioned the motives behind the selective elevation of certain GBV cases, suggesting possible connections to high-profile individuals. He warned against selective activism and populist gestures, calling for independent Parliamentary oversight, free from Executive interference. #EFFInParliament
