General perception - FII selling continuously due to bad government policies. FII holding down to 17% from a peak of 23% in 2014. Was having a catchup session with a USA based client of mine who is an indian & a fund manager for many ultra HNI in the Indian market. What he said blew up my mind and changed my perception big time. Calling it a controlled EXODUS in his view. India is throwing huge bargains for FDI, not FII. They want long term STICKY capital, not short term fair weather money. India wants foreign partners to share technology so that India can share its resource (land manpower natural resource energy) w them in return for their markets.... So they know when the above happens, India could be such big GDP number that it would become unviable to cash out FII (who is cashing out the FII? DII! Thats literally, all of us!) So the idea is to keep cashing out FII so that the lions share of the impending wealth India may create , can stay w indians- big and small! Foreigner capital is ok, but foreigner participation is reqd in business partnership and tech transfer & market access. We would like to be the sharks, rather than the prey! Now friends, this is the view of a friend and a client of mine who handles big accounts in India, but is physically sitting thousands of km away. Sometimes one needs to get a birds eye view of things to get a total picture .... from too close by, everything looks so hazy! Comments and views are welcome in replies to this observation. Thank u for your attention on this matter 🤣🤣🤣🙏
