#SunshineMusicBlastFromThePast Here's a Sunshine Music Studio jam rendition of 'Anopenga Ane Waya' which first released in Rhodesia in 1969 by the fabulous, The Great Sounds,of the 'Koni' fame. N.B: One sure way for #ZimPop to make the kind of splash and waves it should be making big time on the #Afropop and #WorldMusic hit charts to achieve the success it deserves - with 'grammy awards' quality songs - is for Zimbabwe's hugely talented crop of up and coming artists, who clearly can hold their own on any music stage anywhere, to start making and recording big commercial cover productions of some of Zimbabwe's greatest songs from the past; whose catalogue is amazingly rich- which includes great pop hits like 'Anopenga Ane Waya' or Dorothy Masuka's 'Salulandela' or Augustine Musarurwa's 'Skokiaan' - whose compositions are of first class international standard. That's how pop music continues to grow with its history and legacy - while charting newgrounds - in places like the US, Europe, Canada and Australia; whose music markets are typically taken as benchmarks in the global music business! @trustsamende_ @IsaacCh38922019 @MONOMUKUNDU @SylentNqo @dhonzamusoro007 @DrMutambudzi @NicMoyo @Mavhure @SunguraCentral @kwirirayi @FaraiMuvuti @SandraNdebele @taponeswa

#SundayZimPopThrowback One of the best #Zimpop ballads is "Ruva Rangu" composed by one of Zim's best top of the pops songwriters, Brian Rusike who recorded the song, with the Piped Pipers, released by Revelations Records in 1986. Here's a groovy rendition of the gem by the Sunshine Music Studio Crew, with the winner of Idols East Africa 2008, Eric Moyo, on vocals!

#SundayThrowBack Here's a 1970 #ZimPop that did not go down well with Rhodesian authorities, "Thina Siyahlupheka" by Japhet Masuku & Izintombi ZikaMthwakazi with Abafana Bomdlalo, taken off a 45 rpm vinyl single. They were a hot group from Matabeleland, back in the day. Their music competed successfuly with the then popular South African simanje manje from the likes of Mahlathini and Mahotella Queens. In his heyday Japhet Masuku - a renowned broadcaster and a veteran of the liberation struggle - was popularly known as 'Jazi Elindizayo' aka 'Zim Zim'. A project is currently underway to produce Afropop versions of his two hits, "Thina Siyahlupheka" and "Ikhaya Lethu Number 1", whose lyrical content has proven to be timeless. Below is a link to an informative and interesting profile of Japhet Masuku by @john_masuku published by @SundayMailZim! https://t.co/HX0SBbwffx
