@PatrickSiegman #AB3153 is a great little law. Right now, a car-free person who wants to rent or buy is forced to pay for expensive parking for their non-existent car. And they don't even get a safe place to put their bike!

Excited for #AB3153, legislation that would increase bike and car-sharing in new residential developments.
The idea for this bill came from our District’s “There Ought to Be a Law” program. Thank you Zach Hilton of Gilroy for this wonderful proposal.
By adding additional carshare and bike spaces developers can decrease their amount of required car parking and explore other active and cleaner modes of transportation. Not everyone in a housing complex owns a motor vehicle. #AB3153Bike #AB3153 #GilroyBPAC @cayimby @CalBike
@aceckhouse The car parking for bike parking swap in #AB3153 is great, though I’d love to also see long-term bike parking standards themselves beefed up too. Many developers skimp way too much on what constitutes “bike parking”, more often like this than your photo.

#AB3153 allows bike parking & carshare spaces to count towards parking requirements. 2 bike spaces would count as 1 car. Each carshare space would count as 2 cars. Up to 30% of the parking requirement could be met with bike spaces, and an additional 30% with carshare spaces. 11/
