When @CSSJustice asked survivors most impacted by crime what they needed to make their communities safer, they named violence prevention, mental health & trauma services for kids as top priorities! #AB875 is a real public safety investment! TY @BuffyWicks
In CA 22.8% of our children live in poverty. That's *2M* kids facing the negative impacts of poverty—& they’re disproportionately kids of color.
These inequities are unconscionable. And they’re unacceptable.
That's why I introduced #AB875—reestablishing the #HealthyStart in CA.
@BuffyWicks @safeandjust @UnitedWaysCA @UWBayArea @cdfca We are proud to sponsor #AB875!
Thank you for your leadership @BuffyWicks, our 10,000+ crime survivor members stand with you.
Ensuring students have services improves health & academic outcomes and is a key piece of a comprehensive approach to community safety.
Thank you to all the organizations working to get #AB875 through, including: @CSSJustice, @safeandjustx @UWBayArea @UnitedWaysCA @cdfca.
Now is the time for Healthy Start 2.0 — let’s get it passed!

For those who don't know, #ab875 will provide services for K - 12 school campuses to combat homelessness, hunger, trauma, etc.
$60 million over four years and fund grants that would go directly to schools and school districts!

Hooray! California is on its way to coordinating mental health, education, health care and social services for entire families in schools. The Assembly just passed #AB875 -- we know it works! Thank you @BuffyWicks for your leadership and dedication.
@Rendon63rd In the 1990s #HealthyStart helped 1000s of kids (many w/ ACEs) by breaking down silos + coordinating services.
15 yrs ago an economic downturn defunded it.
We need #AB875 (Healthy Start 2.0) to close achievement gaps + meet the urgent needs of students + families.
