@Fingalcoco @AnnMarieFingal @MayorofFingal @LocalGovIre @gardainfo @DubFireBrigade @EVENTSinFingal @fingalcommunity @CCMALocalGov @FingalPPN @DisabilityFed This is shocking and deeply problematic for disabled people who often have to withdraw from social situations due to the lack of clean and accessible public toilets. This is #AbleismAtWork

I'm 21, autistic and I'm in my 4th job, and I can truthfully say that every single employer I've had has allowed it's managers and employees to be ableist towards me and ultimately, between that and the awful management, that's why I've left #ActuallyAutistic #AbleismAtWork

An important thread by @atthecrosswalk about employment of people with #disabilities, and how accessibility is too often not taken seriously & overlooked in the workplace. Share your #AbleismAtWork stories! #NDEAM

2. #AbleismAtWork There was an automatic reaction among co-workers and bosses "go see the doctor. They'll figure it out and fix it." My boss actively disbelieved me when I told her how I was treated - at the company medical center.

1. #AbleismAtWork I was newly disabled & worked at a sprawling corporate campus. My assigned parking lot was easily 1/2 mile from my desk. I worked on the 7th floor. Elevator placement clearly was designed by ableds. That was not fun once I started waking up in pain.

Oh, and the below rule applies when you're #WorkingWhileDisabled, too. HR is there to *cover your employer's ass*, NOT to *help you*. And many supervisors will be just as shitty about your needs as your instructors were/are. #AbleismAtWork #ableistAF

Shitty reminder for students, while we're talking #WhyDisabledPeopleDropout. The goal of all Disability Services is ultimately to **keep the school from being sued**. THEY'RE NOT *REALLY* THERE TO SERVE DISABLED PEOPLE. Sadly, the only advocate you can rely on is yourself.
