AC (@aircanada) is missing the min requirements for passenger care during our ground hold (#AC549). In a stunning display of social media savvy the flight crew was unhappy about a passenger complaining on TikTok and issued a “Public Service Announcement” that filming is not permitted on Air Canada flights.
There are at least a dozen people now filming. Perhaps if those passengers film their complaints in both languages it’ll be allowed?
EWR is in rough shape right now for delays and it’s HOT! It’s 34° C and AC can’t keep up.
The crew first turned off the inflight TVs and in seat power for safety due to the temp in the cabin. Then that wasn’t enough so they required all pax to close the blinds and open all the air vents, then dimmed the cabin lights.
That still didn’t work, they’ve asked at least three people if they should page for a doctor (how that’d help with the heat still persistent is mind boggling) and are now passing ice to passengers who appear at risk.
Given that, I’m not sure why the crew thought censorship is a good option. Air Canada is usually decent with @AirPassRightsCA in my experience but holy smokes not today.
It’s gotta be 33° in the cabin at this point but I can’t make a TikTok about it or Air Canada will kick me off 🙄
All in all still stranded in a hot plane on the ground in Newark. I feel bad for anyone hoping to make it to Vancouver for a World Cup game tomorrow which is a solid chunk of the flight. I’m just hoping I get a hotel for my inevitable overnight before getting to Edmonton.
Well #NewYork, it was a slice — can’t wait to come back and thankful for my Christmas gift of noise cancelling headphones cuz babies!

Getting back in the air after #ac549 had to make an emergency landing. Scariest 10 minutes I've had in a very long time. Kudos to the crew!
