❤️ I HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS TO SHARE!
I am incredibly honored and excited to announce that I've been selected to speak in person at the FDA's Rare Disease Framework Public Meeting on October 28th in Silver Spring, Maryland!
This meeting is especially meaningful because it focuses on the FDA's new initiative and recently released white paper, A New Framework for Rare Disease Review.
For someone who has spent so many years advocating for the Huntington's disease community, this opportunity means more to me than I can adequately put into words.
I'm not just an advocate. I'm gene-positive, someone living with the reality of a progressive, rare brain disease. I've watched this disease take so much from people I love, and I know firsthand what is at stake when we talk about treatment development, regulatory decisions, and the time patients have left.
I've spent nearly two decades fighting for a seat at the table. On October 28th, I'll have the privilege of using that seat to help shape a future where the patient voice is not an afterthought, but a foundation of the process.
And that means everything to me. ❤️
The FDA's new Rare Disease Framework Initiative represents an opportunity to rethink how treatments for rare diseases are developed and reviewed, recognizing that rare diseases present unique challenges that traditional approaches don't always adequately address.
It's an opportunity to discuss what evidence is realistically attainable, how we can improve consistency and predictability in regulatory decisions, and how patients can have a meaningful role throughout the process.
But here's the part I really want everyone to hear:
📣 YOU HAVE A SEAT AT THIS TABLE, TOO!
The FDA is inviting public comments on this initiative, and this is an opportunity for patients, caregivers, families, advocates, researchers, and everyone impacted by rare diseases to provide input.
You don't need a medical degree. You don't need to understand every detail of regulatory science.
💪Your lived experience IS expertise. And your voice deserves to be heard. 💙

I'm excited. I'm humbled. And I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
But more than anything, I'm hopeful about what we can accomplish when patients are genuinely included in shaping the systems that determine our futures.
We have an opportunity to make a difference. Let's not waste it.
Because for those of us living with progressive rare diseases, every day matters. Disease progression can cause irreversible damage. And what we stand to lose isn't just time - it's our independence, our abilities, precious moments with our families, and the futures we're fighting so hard to protect.
❤️ Time Matters. And so do our voices.

A year of #AMT130 delays. Former FDA official Prasad dismisses the therapy over brain surgery risks and tells patients to wait years for future drugs.
Personal vendetta or policy? Either way, a sick regulatory culture.

Wow, pretty ballsy statement from Prasad about amt-130. Dude better be right or history really is going to look bad on him. This is a pretty strong statement.

@DrAlexEhsan @twotreesthere @mike98572986 The conversation an #AdCom4HD could unlock.
Patients without #AMT130 face a fatal disease, sooner or later. Answer isn’t another massive, years-long trial built around population averages.
Approve. Monitor. Learn. Personalize.
That’s regulatory innovation.

Remember, $QURE didn’t simply pick an external control after the fact. The Enroll-HD comparison was built into a prespecified statistical analysis plan discussed with the @FDA.
So the key question becomes: how robust is the effect across reasonable control assumptions?
@mike98572986 @FDA 5-5
And that’s why I’m calling for #AdCom4HD.
Not pro- $QURE. Not anti- @FDA.
A public forum where #Huntington patients, clinicians, statisticians and regulatory experts can stress-test the evidence, INCLUDING the proposed confirmatory design.
Let’s innovate! 🧬 $XBI $CLPT

Hear hear! @FDA_KyleD I have great respect for you and other leaders at the @FDA who have shown their commitment not only to the #huntingtonsdisease community but also the broader #raredisease community. I think it's time for an #AdCom4HD so the patient voice is not lost AGAIN amidst the drama. #ActWithUrgency #ActWithIntegrity #ActWithHumanity #AMT130 #TimeMatters
@adamfeuerstein Patients shouldn’t just be the subjects of the regulatory debate, they should be heard in it.
Time to listen. Time to scrutinize. Time for #AdCom4HD. 🧬📢
This is exactly the voice that needs amplifying. Thank you for giving @laurencurehd a platform. 🧬

New video of Deborah Hall at Rush, the lady that had the 5 year patient. Not 100 percent sure if this was a newer interview or when technically it was given. She did say first patient was dosed 6 years ago and is speaking about the 3 year results. I have never seen this one so thought I would post it.
“You can imagine someone that gets the disease in their 30’s or 40’s they may actually have a normal life expectancy if they were able to receive a gene therapy like this.”
“If this does work for the majority of the patients the hope is that we can give it to earlier patients so that technically they never get the disease and wouldn’t that be the goal? That would be the closest to the cure.”
She has been advocating with Congress. Talks about the price.

I also appreciate the detailed explanation because it's difficult to get all of that across to other advocates. So thanks for making that part easier.
I also respect you greatly. You have fought alongside us through this and I am grateful beyond measure.
However, I hope everyone remembers that we are fighting for our lives. THIS confirmatory trial design isn't fighting for our lives. It will 100% cause progression of disease and irreversible damage for not 1 year, not 18 months or 2 years but THREE years. It doesn’t matter where they are located, that is unethical and wrong when we KNOW what this treatment does, when other regulatory bodies are not requiring the same thing because of how unethical it is. And we have the right to be angry because we have ALREADY been fighting this fight, and it feels like NO ONE IS LISTENING.
Another thing - right now IS a historic time for our community because for the first time EVER, WE HAVE OPTIONS! So - if no one is listening, if the KOL aren't fighting for something better because of what we as patients have been saying, why are we fighting so hard when they're okay with sacrificing brain function and ultimately lives with a trial design like this??
@uniQure_NV Great! 👏 Perhaps invite a professor of communication and ethics too?
The fact that key details of the #AMT130 trial design emerge through analysts calling management—not through $QURE itself—is a trust issue, especially when patients face serious ethical questions.

@twotreesthere @Ganamadara @DesertDweller93 @FDA Neither 770 patients for $NVS nor 200 for $QURE 's #AMT130 screams “innovative FDA” focused on faster access. Especially with extensive natural-history data available.
This deserves a public #AdCom4HD. Not another closed-door negotiation.
@RepAuchincloss @JakeAuch @laurencurehd
@Ganamadara @DesertDweller93 3-year data are sufficient for BLA. 4-year data must be bargaining chip to get the @FDA to drop the confirmatory trial.
Because so far, I see no evidence of an “innovative FDA.” Asking for 200 patients in a rare disease like HD?! That’s insane!🤯
