Since January 20, too many of Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Republicans' actions have only served to break our government and hurt the American people. If you’ve been affected, please share your story here to help me best represent San Diego in Congress.

For years, I’ve been working on a simple problem: it takes too long to build the things we need to power America with clean, affordable energy. The bipartisan Senate infrastructure package not only includes my priorities to build more renewable projects, but it also protects ratepayers from rising energy costs.

It’s not perfect, especially with Trump in the White House and his finger on the scale. But he’s a two-year problem. BAAJA solves a three-decade one.

I worked with my colleagues in Congress and leaders from across the region for years to bring federal attention and funding to the sewage pollution crisis. Thanks to our collaboration, we got it. On Friday, we gathered to discuss the ongoing work and what more needs to be done to reach a final solution.

No matter who you are or who you love, every American should have the same fundamental human rights. I’m grateful to receive a score of 100 on @HRC’s Congressional Scorecard for my commitment to standing with and fighting for our LGBTQ+ community.

Wildfires have grown more intense and frequent because we’ve suppressed natural fires that removed smaller trees and vegetation that act as kindling for bigger, more devastating fires. We must pass my Fix Our Forests Act.

October is Economic Education Month - a time to teach young people about personal finances and how to make smart economic choices. I’m working in Congress to get our national debt under control and put us on a better fiscal path so our youth have the freedom they need to pursue a stronger future. This month, San Diegans can find economic and financial literacy resources from the San Diego Center for Economic Education at Cuyamaca College ⬇️

On Thursday, I joined housing and homeless service providers to discuss how we can best work together to tackle San Diego’s homelessness crisis. While the results from the last two years of San Diego’s Point in Time Count have been encouraging, we know there’s a lot left to do.

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

The President’s reckless war in Iran is keeping gas prices high, which drives up the cost of everything because of how much it costs to transport essential goods. It doesn’t have to be like this. He can end this and stop the economic pain Americans are feeling.

Serving Seniors provides over 1.5 million nutritious meals a year to older San Diegans. On Tuesday, I helped serve lunch and had the chance to share what I’m working on in Congress and answer some of their questions.

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

I am heartbroken by the tragic shooting at an elementary school in Oregon. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Bend community.

Children should be able to learn and play at our schools, not live in fear. Congress has the power to help protect them, and I won’t stop working towards that.

[The Associated Press @AP]

BREAKING: Three children ages 5, 8 and 11 and a teacher were killed in a Bend, Oregon, school shooting, police say. https://t.co/fP6DsDudmg

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

Our Constitution explicitly gives states the power to manage elections, not the Trump Administration. I joined @CASOSVote for a discussion on how California is prepared to defend the constitutional rights of every California voter, no matter what the Administration tries to throw at us. I’ll continue to stand up against their voter suppression attempts in DC. San Diegans can watch the full conversation with California’s election security officials below to stay informed and ready to vote in this election.

President Trump’s unauthorized war in Iran may be one of the biggest blunders in American foreign policy history. None of the stated objectives have been met and the consequences for us are racking up. I’ll do everything I can in Congress to rein it in. With reports of increased ICE activity in San Diego, it’s important for everyone to understand the rights everyone is entitled to regardless of immigration status. I recently hosted a Know Your Rights training and I hope it can be informative for our community members ⬇️

ICE has launched a 45-day enforcement surge in California, according to a new report that says the crackdown began in San Diego, where community organizers say they’ve seen an uptick in agents on the streets. https://t.co/QnJ2JrHjEj

San Diego County is home to more recognized Tribes and Reservations than any other county in the country. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor their histories, cultures, traditions, and enduring contributions that make our community stronger every day.

Coming out is personal and courageous. On National Coming Out Day, I celebrate those who live openly and authentically and I send support to those still on their coming out journey. I will always fight for our LGBTQ+ community to live without fear of hatred or discrimination.

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

The Energy and Commerce Committee had chance after chance to weigh in and add their perspective on these reforms and for years, they chose to do nothing. I’m grateful that the Senate filled that void so we can fix our broken permitting system and supercharge our grid, which is too old, too dumb, and too small. House Republicans had their shot; Chairman Guthrie shouldn’t stand in the way of progress now. 4/4

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

I’m glad Chairman Guthrie wants to be involved in the grid and permitting reform conversation now, but he’s late to the party. It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Senate took the lead after he and House Republicans declined to act on the bipartisan bills and ideas that I and others have been pushing. 🧵 1/4

[Punchbowl News @PunchbowlNews]

In @PunchbowlNews Midday: Brett Guthrie is looking to assert the House’s role in permitting reform, and he’s insisting on changes to the Senate’s big bipartisan bill before supporting the legislation.

Plus, SLF spending in South Carolina:

[Rep. Scott Peters @RepScottPeters]

We only got a short hearing on this topic in the last few weeks of September 2026 and we never acted on any of the bills or ideas discussed. Now, Senate leaders have worked together and produced a package that will address many of the challenges we face, including meeting our surging energy demand, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, competing with countries like China, and harshly regulating data centers. 3/4

This is barbaric and disturbing. Public executions are something oppressive dictatorships do, not free and fair democracies.

[CBS News @CBSNews]

The U.S. military plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the ex-Army major who was convicted of the 2009 killing of 13 people at Fort Hood, when he faces a firing squad on Dec. 3, a Pentagon official said.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier Thursday the Pentagon planned to make the execution public.

Hasan's case could mark the military's first execution of an American service member since 1961.
