Instead of facing scrutiny for hiring foreign workers while Americans were laid off, many switched to NIW self-petitions to stay in the U.S. 📊 The Data: 🔴 Tech Layoffs: 160K (2022) ➡️ 240K (2023) 🔵 NIW Filings: 26% (2022) ➡️ 43% (2023) Why does this matter? The data strongly supports the hypothesis that mass layoffs in tech and a saturated labor market drove an increase in NIW applications.
